We tried to make wine yesterday during lab. My main job for my group was probably guarding our stash of grapes, because Migs was trying to stuff as many pieces as he could inside his greedy little mouth. The bag got stolen from me a couple of times and all I did was chase around people to retrieve those damn grapes, which are by the way, expensive as hell. In the end, we only crushed around 50% of the original amount because that was all left. The other 50% got snatched by piggy fingers… making me look like the lousiest Guardian of Grapes.
I was thinking while fashioning a cap for the fermentation bottle, that it would be a great business venture if I started a pub. I believe that every university needs a pub. Someone suggested the pub should be in the Chem building because that’s where the brewing process is going to be done, anyway. But obviously, Jesuits will not cater to our desire to create our own brewery in Schmitt Hall. I suppose drinking alcohol is a sin too?
Anyway I was imagining the one I'm going to build, which is more like those pubs in Germany, where people sat down and had their superb beer, served foamy and cold by sturdy-built local women named Olga in those large beer mugs. We’ve never had those here, probably due to the fact that there are only few breweries in this country (and I only knew of one Olga, and she reminded me of a stick). I’d want to do home brewing of different flavored beers and sell that in the pub. Pub though, not bar? Because in the Philippines, we all know bars consist of karaoke machines, varnish-flavored alcoholic drinks, complete with G.R.O’s and horrible disco lights. None of that cheap shit. My pub’s going to be more of a place to appreciate beer rather than a place where drunkards hang around to appreciate the waitress’ legs…
But that’s not really going to sell here, is it?
Yeah, I guessed as much.
