Commenting on comments

I just spent most of the day replying to old (and new) AO3 comments, and I found myself re-reading a whole bunch of my own fics as part of that process. I still really like most of them, which is a pleasant surprise! And it's a good motivator for this year's attempt at completing NaNoWriMo. ;)

I haven't gotten very far in past years, but that's been due to a few factors--especially stress from work and a lack of clear direction. And a sort of rock-bottom certainty that no one else cared whether or not I completed the thing I was working, which definitely kills motivation like little else!

This year I a) have a cheering squad in my sister, who has demanded first access to everything I produce for this project; b) a clear direction in that I'm filling in the 12 years Prospero spends on the magic island prior to the start of The Tempest--beginning, end, cast of characters, setting, etc. are already all laid out for me; c) No idea whether or not there will be work to get stressed out over, but can't worry about that now! ;)

My plan is to use October as a sort of research/mood board-creation time, using this blog as the main mood board. Music, art, poetry, etc. will all be either thematically related or from the general time period. Don't know if it'll actually help with the writing process, but at least it's gotten me to start posting again!
