Pros of limiting myself to only 1.5 hours daily of "free internet time" (7:30-9PM): got a bunch of chores done, read a book, took a nap, didn't touch the computer until 6PM for a (not-work-related) meeting ... generally felt like I was on vacation because there just wasn't any desire/drive to get on the computer.
Cons: I have a bunch of projects I want/need to do which require using a computer in some capacity.
Final result: Going to give it a month or so, but I think this is probably the right move to make, despite the resulting hassle. I'm just so bad at restraining myself when it comes to wasting time online--there are a ton of cool or necessary things I should be doing, that would make me feel good about doing them, but instead I just doom-scroll on Tumblr or watch snarky commentary on some movie or TV show I will never watch, etc.
It's definitely not good for me, let's just put it that way.
My hope is that using ColdTurkey to train myself this way will make it easier to control myself outside of situations where ColdTurkey can do the heavy lifting for me, but I guess we'll find out! (Maybe I'll have enough time and mental space to get properly back into writing.)
