Getting most of the way there

I was sitting by our outdoor fireplace, thinking about how as a kid I desperately wanted a fireplace but always imagined it inside the house, which I knew meant it would never happen. The idea of an outdoor fireplace never occurred to me, but it bypasses all the various structural and financial issues that meant an indoor fireplace was functionally impossible. Sure, an outdoor fireplace can't be used year-round, and depends a bit on the weather cooperating, but I can now say "I want to go sit by a fire", and just ... go sit by a fire. I don't have to drive 30 minutes/3 hours to one of my aunts' houses in order to have access to an indoor fireplace. I can just throw a few pieces of wood and some cardboard into my handy outdoor fireplace, carefully toss in a match, and away we go!

How much of life is actually like this? Dreams/desires that seem impossible, but if we just change the parameters a little (fireplace must be indoors -> fireplace can go on back patio) we can get the majority/most important aspects of what we want.

Definitely going to sit down and do some close examination of some of my long-held but seemingly impossible (would require abandoning my church and all my friends, etc.) dreams. Think I may have started down the path to approximations of some of them already, without realizing it. It's so easy assume something must be a certain way, when it really doesn't....
