At least 635 people killed, 237 injured as a crowd of Shiite pilgrims stampede on a bridge near a mosque in Baghdad, police say.
New Orleans mayor says Katrina killed hundreds -- maybe thousands -- of people in city, Associated Press reports.
Why so much death in the world? The sad thing is the majority of it goes unreported...
It's just sad to think about that when I have such a good day, so many thousands of people die.

On a lighter note...
Went bookshopping today at Changing Hands.... Bought:
Siddhartha
On Human Bondage
The Bell Jar
A Man in Full (hardcover)
all for under 12 dollars... plus today was my free Starbucks at Safeway. (Every 8th one is free, you should check it out...) Can we say Venti mocha Frappuchino caramel Affogato style? Got a few more clients to teach, which means Kate will be happy when she gets her September paycheck... she will also be happy when her boss finally writes her August paycheck, which is a few days overdue, ahem... Got to work out a little bit today, which was nice. Let me emphasize the importance of stretching after exercising. I'm so stiff... could really use a back massage... any takers?
And an accident on the freeway caused me to be 30 minutes late to work today. I was driving for an hour. At least I had Paul Simon to keep me company... Graceland could very well possibly be one of my favorite albums.
I guess it all sort of balances out.

"Fat Charlie the Archangel
Sloped into the room
He said I have no opinion about this
And I have no opinion about that
Sad as a little lonely wrinkled balloon
He said well I don't claim to be happy about this, boys
And I don't claim to be happy about that
I don't want no part of this crazy love..."
