For being officially based in São Paulo, Kennedy somehow managed to find a way to justify spending a lot of time in Rio. (Or Willow found a reason, because they were both pretty incorrigible when they felt like it. They were sometimes a terrible influence on each other.) Sure, sometimes they actually had legitimate reasons, like actual Slayer-type business, or sometimes they just decided they deserved a couple of days off. Besides, Kennedy's family had a penthouse there, and it would be a shame for that to go unused, right?

To be fair, these days they could afford to take a few days off. Which was what they were doing now-- or would be, except Kennedy couldn't keep her mind off work. Great, she was turning into her dad, just with slime and occasional viscera and granulated ex-vampire all over everything.

Willow was still asleep, so Kennedy took a couple of pastries, a cup of coffee, and her laptop out to the balcony so she could work in the early autumn sunlight. For certain values of 'work' that at this point mainly meant picking absently at her apple crumb cake while she filtered through a folder of archived emails and several tabs' worth of various search terms.

She had a list now, a good several dozen names long, of girls they'd tracked down over the last couple of years who had no interest in using their new powers to do the Slayer thing. They'd come to expect that by now; it wasn't like anyone had gotten a vote in the whole thing unless they'd been part of the group in Sunnydale that day. (Kennedy sometimes got into fights with Buffy over this, but her arguments lost weight whenever someone pointed out that she'd been the first one to put her hand up.) It was just that they seemed to deal with these things on a case-by-case basis, and as far as Kennedy was concerned one mess with a newbie Slayer going rogue and using her abilities for mayhem had been more than enough.

The way she saw it, it wasn't that these girls didn't want the super-strength and the rest of the package; none of the ones she'd talked to had objected to that yet. They just weren't so much cool with the demon-fighting and end-of-the-world-stopping, so... what to do with them? That was the question.

She had a couple of ideas; she just needed to get those worked out.

[[so the comics did a thing i actually really like and i'm appropriating it. can be open for calls/emails/texts, though i'm still going to be super flaky today so sp like whoa.]]
