A Private Lounge at a Mainland Club, Thursday Evening

Aug 16, 2012 10:08

Kennedy was supposed to be home in New York tonight, helping with the last few days of moving preparations. In fact, that was what she'd been doing, but apparently all her well-meaning offers of assistance were really just wreaking havoc on Willow's carefully constructed System. So, she'd been persuaded (like that was hard) to go out and patrol, ( Read more... )

Well, Bobby wasn't a girl, but come on. Like that was gonna stop him.

He briefly considered putting on a wig or something, though. But in the end he vetoed that idea. So now he was just sliding in to the booth next to Kennedy. "Whatever happens, don't let me suggest any impromptu trips anywhere," he advised.

"What did you do?" Kennedy turned to him and raised one eyebrow pointedly. "Person who, as far as I know, isn't a girl unless Fandom does that weekend wacky?"

Note the lack of complaint in her voice, though.

"Uh, I think we decided to go on a safari last night?" Bobby said. It was all kind of hazy, really. "And... ended up in the Savage Land." He stuck his tongue out at her. "Also, you're the one who called me, remember? So my presence here is totally justified."

"I did kind of want you here," Kennedy pretended to concede as if it was an incredibly difficult thing to acknowledge. Twist her arm, why don't you. "Besides, if I thought you needed to be thrown out I could totally do that with one hand."

Sigh, Kennedy. Be obnoxious, why don't you.

"Assuming you could lay a hand on me,"

Way to be obnoxious right back, Bobby. This was why they were friends.

Nothing said friendship like being mutual terrible influences.

"And that's something we're not gonna test right now," Kennedy shot back smoothly, and leaned over to elbow him. "This is a night for partying down, not throwing down."

...to be fair, she had been known to conflate the two on multiple occasions, so...

"Because those two are totally never things that happen at the same time," Bobby rolled his eyes. "But definitely not tonight."

Kennedy let her jaw drop and feigned shock at him. "Do I look like the kind of girl--" ahahahaha, Kennedy, don't even finish that sentence-- "who thinks a fight sounds like a good time?"

Fine then. Ignore the narrative.

"Don't answer that."

"I was gonna say, I have met you..." Bobby pointed out with a sardonic little snort.

"Touché," Kennedy agreed with good humor. "Not gonna promise it won't happen, just so I don't jinx anything, but I can guarantee I won't spend the night looking for trouble."

It tended to find her. Another thing they had in common, and she wasn't going to mention it aloud.

She fiddled with her drink straw for a moment, then asked, "You all set to take off yet?"

"Mostly," he confirmed. "It's weird, last year... I didn't think I'd be back. Now- it's hard to believe I'm leaving."

"I get that," she agreed, her voice going a touch husky with wistfulness. "I spent forever thinking I'd never get a chance to come back here, and then I did, and now... I'm kind of really ready to go and I don't know what to do about it. Where to from here? New York, or Bon Temps?"

"New York," Bobby told her. "I think Jason's practically pushing Sookie out of the house in Bon Temps." Possibly a slight exaggeration, but.

Kennedy couldn't help a slight look of distaste. She'd never been particularly fond of Jason; sure, he was pretty, but that didn't do much to improve her opinion of him, sorry.

"She coming with you, then?" she had to ask. "Kinda funny. I'm leaving, you're heading there. It's weirdly comforting."

Bobby nodded. "We talked it over and we're both pretty tired of the long-distance thing, so. Yeah. She's gonna transfer to ESU and it's not like the mansion's ever really run out of space. Even though she's not a mutant, she's got powers so that'll have to be good enough." His expression clearly said what he thought of anyone who'd have a problem with it. Of which there were probably bound to be some. Marrow.

"You want me to come yell at anyone who has a problem with it?" Kennedy offered, because let's be honest, she totally would.

She reached over to punch him lightly in the arm. "Good call. You two have a good thing, and long-distance blows."

Looking back on it now, she'd have gone kind of crazy trying to deal with that for as long as Bobby and Sookie had.
