Update: there is much groaning and gnashing of teeth

Life is continuing, slowly and month to month.

On the upside: DC is awesome and there are many things to do here. I've joined a gaming group (board and card games), I'm taking a beginners tai chi class, and last week I visited the White House and saw a performance by the Shen Yun dance company.

On the downside: I really dislike job searching. Finding jobs that I'm excited about is frustrating, applying to those jobs is painful, and waiting for a response that may never come is back to frustrating.

On the "OMG-why-do-I-do-this-to-myself"-side: I am now one third of the way through reading Atlas Shrugs, live-blogging my reactions on www.biblio-therapy.com, and it is a slow and painful process. I haven't read a book so full of characters I wanted to slap upside the head since my last undergraduate English Lit course. It's just layers upon layers of hypocrisy and while my opinion of Ayn Rand has (slightly) improved since starting it, my opinion of "Randian" politicians has sunk to previously unknown depths. And I still have 800 more pages to go. Urg.

And finally, does anyone on this list use LibraryThing? I'm vaguely contemplating doing something on it, but I'm not sure how best to make use of it.
