As for "M," that was the casting director's or TPTB collective huge gaffe fromt the beginning. If they had to cast her, they should have either minimized her role and kept her in the background as a supporting player, or killed her in T.J. I thought she was an albatross in S1, but I could barely stand to watch S3 since she was practically in every scene- and needlessly. Why they ever felt the need to write so many episodes around her when both the character and the "actress" had no charisma or magnetism and, in the case of the character, few redeeming qualities, is beyond me. There was nothing engaging or compelling about her story. Apparently, most viewers agreed. Her death alone made me very excited for S4.

Don't even get me started on how bankrupt the "Frank gate" (as you so cleverly put it) aspect was. What a travesty. Talk about trivializing domestic abuse, insulting Ryan's character (and all victims of child and domestic abuse), and discounting so much of his past. I'm still not sure why they even brought Frank Atwood in when they could have brought Frank Perry (or Smith or Jones or Doe) in to put in a love triangle with Julie and another male character. Aside from "The My Two Dads, " there was no exploration of Ryan's dynamic or relationship with Frank at all and no delving into the history to compare to the present. That was a golden opportunity that was just wasted. It made me so disappointed, so angry and just so sad.

Then we had to see all the Julie/Frank mess to the very end, with no component including how Ryan felt. We saw no more of the Sandy/Frank tension. We saw Taylor make everything all about her, when, barely a month ago, Ryan was desperately just trying to put one foot in front of the other and even admitted he could only handle functioning at the most basic level. But no one ever explored that- they just steamrolled on through with Ryan getting plowed under yet again.

Even in the last episode, we never got any moment where Kirsten finally, FINALLY was honest with Ryan and tried to right some wrongs from the beginning, through the intervention, through her constant detachment from him (and her love of the damn ham), to the way she pushed him towards Dawn and then Frank without considering his well-being... And I really, really thought we'd get a final Ryan/Sandy scene where they revisited their first meeting and Sandy let Ryan know what motivated him to act as he did that day while Ryan told Sandy why he called him as well. Then we might have had them come full circle and say some of the really honest, special, powerful sort of affirmations we never got to hear. And aren't you glad you got me started on this rant????! Sorry!

Anyway, I'm glad your cat is alive and well- if a little unusual. That's what makes him special- right? Maybe?

I'll watch for you pages when you're ready. Do you have my email? I don't remember. It's jumby8@yahoo.com if you need it. Until then, I'll still enjoy what remains of this story- and I've gotten very attached!

Thanks again for the New Year's wishes.
