RULES and GUIDELINES

• Don't godmode/post for anyone else's character without their expressed permition. Common sense.

• Stay active. This is a rather subjective issue, and as such is more of a guideline, but if you seem to have dropped off the face of the earth, or if you seem to be character-squatting, you will be considered inactive and we will attempt to contact you. If, after being contacted, your activity does not pick up, or you don't take an official hiatus, you will be dropped from the game.

• Don't be a dick. Another subjective issue, but it's generally obvious when someone is being difficult and uncivil. Remember, this is a community, and as such cooperation with other players is required, or else it will fall apart.

brassburg is a multifandom game, but as an alternate universe(as opposed to a nexus, or a "falling into a strange place" game), all characters were born into this setting, and are therefore expected to have histories that conform to the parameters of the world.

• There is no magic, though the physics of the world is more like video-game physics, and the science more like mad-science. This rule can be bent a little bit, although try to keep it in the spirit of the game and the world; when in doubt, ask a moderator.

• We request that all players applying to the game be at least 16 years old, as there is a high probability of mature themes (violence, sexual situations, etc) ingame. In addition, no characters under the age if 16 (physically or mentally) are allowed to play out sexual scenes.

• The community brassburg is for roleplay posts only. On occasion, moderators may post instants and world-changing events under the [INSERT TAG HERE]tag, but these are the only exceptions; all announcements and out-of-character posts are to be made in the OOC community [OOC COMM]

• All roleplay logs posted to brassburg must be placed behind an LJ-cut. Roleplay logs which contain mature themes must be friends-locked and a warning must be placed outside the cut. See [POSTING GUIDELINES].

• This is a fandom game; as such, we don't take original characters or real people.

•When playing in a large thread, please keep in mind that many players are in different time zones, or may have work or school; be sure not to leave anyone behind.

•Canon parallels are awesome.

•It is perfectly allowed, often encouraged, to utilize fuzzy time and the like in character histories, although this doesn't exempt a potential player from being thorough; the reason for this is that, as an AU game, it's realistic for characters to have known one another much longer than the time frame given during actual play. In this way, if someone new joins and wants to have a history with your character, it can be added in with minor retcon.

•Whenever possible, try to avoid using the names of characters that are not your own in your application, unless you have worked something out with another player/applicant before writing it. This is simply to assure that no characters get shoehorned into playing a certain way before they've even been applied for. Use descriptive language(i.e. "her sister," "his teacher") and the like instead.

•While players are encouraged to progress at their own pace, and there is no rigid time system, we do ask that you put both a date and a time in your post header, and try to keep up-to-date. The game opens on May 8th and will likely progress much more slowly than real life; look around at some of the other threads to get an idea of the "current" date before posting.
