Birmingham evacuated I find this really odd they evacuated a large area and kept it evacuated for around five hours. How specific is a threat that needs that response? They didn't seem to know what where or when.
A suspicious package on a bus and a suspicious package at the Travelodge on Broad Street (approximately 200 yards from where I work, maybe 300) were dealt with by controlled explosions.
It sound much more like a vague threat without any specific information was made and the Police went all the way down the 'better safe than sorry' road. I don't blame them for that but I'm finding the 'specific threat no connection to London bombs' line somewhat hard to swallow.
