The Avengers

Well seeing as there was no LJ last night and I'd already put in eight hours of OU study on the PC I decided there were worse ways to waste my time than watch the Avengers film on the telly.

What an odd little number it was. I liked the touch of James Bond (Sean Connery) being the ubervillan trying to control the world and I jumped up and down when Invisible Jones spoke (played by Patrick McNee), that was really quite a clever way for Steed to meet rip off Steed.

The completley empty streets that they drove along were distracting, but I'm sure very arty. The chemistry between Uma & Ralph just wasn't there so the quips that would have worked so well between Patrick and Diana just became a sterile dance.

Incidentially if you drive some 100 miles to a country estate and end up getting knocked out waking up in your partners London flat is somewhat unbelievable doing it twice (even if reversing the partner) doesn't make it any more so. If your unconcious for that length of time you really need to get yourself to casualty.

Oh and where the fekk did "Father" come from? I still don't know if she was meant to be blind or not. In some scenes she played it that way in others she didn't. Maybe she was just a poor actress

Overall a pleasant way to pass an evening but I'll be buying the DVD's of the orginal not the film when I have the money to spend.
