Party Planning!
So, I'm thinking ahead a little bit, to my birthday this year. I'll be turning *mutter*a prime number adjacent to a square (no, not 17!)*mutter* in mid-August, and I want to have a fun party. I know there are several parties between now and then, but I'm marking some party territory for my own. :)
I've been talking with a few people about party ideas, and I think I'm sorta converging on a party concept with a tropical/beach theme (since it'll probably be hot):
Frozen blender drinks (watermelon margaritas, strawberry daiquiris, tequila + rum = "daiquiritas" ;)
Wearing of underwear/swim trunks encouraged! (Free tequila shots if you bring me your pants!)
Lots of pink! (You don't have to wear pink... but you definitely could!)
Other thoughts:
Water balloon fights if it's really hot?
Maybe start the party at Hanlan's Point in the afternoon?
Other possible thematic drinks/foods:
Pink lemonade (with vodka?)
Mojito-style drinks but with lemon, berries (to make it pink) and rosemary syrup... or grapefruit and some other herb I'm growing in my garden, maybe thyme or bergamot, or rosemary as well? Mojito slush? Guava juice instead of citrus?
Flavoured tequila (soak strawberry, guava, cactus fruit (pitaya) in tequila)
Rosé sangria...?
Pink-coloured salsa (papaya, heirloom tomato?) and red corn chips?
Pink jello shots (dig up recipes from the LCBO mag last year)
Alizé Rose (that stuff is actually really tasty!)
A pink cake (Strawberry? Pink confetti?)
Sorbet?
Trial of Halex's key lime tarts? (not pink but whatever)
My birthday is on the 18th, which is Thursday this year, so the nearest Saturdays are Aug 13th and 20th. I think I'm leaning towards the 13th, since the 20th is getting close to Feral!
Anyways - what do you think? Would you get down to your undies at my party? ...What if you had been drinking tequila? ;) Which weekend would be best for you?
