Well. Over 3 months since my last post, almost 6 months since my last post of significance... and that was at least partly to say "I'm not dead!"
Well, I'm not.
Been busy, though - as always, seems to get worse as the years pass.
What's going on with me, you ask? Hmm. I FEEL like a lot is going on, like I'm always busy doing something, but... I am feeling like I am not getting much done, really. Or more, that it's all pretty menial, boring stuff - nothing ground-breaking or exciting.
So, for my sake as much as yours, I think I shall compile a list of the things I have done recently, or am working on, that I am excited about:
Christmas is around the corner, and I am actually here on LJ today because I wanted to get a list of ingredients for my favourite fruitcake recipe, which I intend to make this weekend.
I made a "Max" (the kid from "Where the Wild Things Are")-styled wolf-suit for myself for Hallowe'en - I should take and post pictures. It turned out extremely well, and I included some allowances in the design so that I can snowboard in it. :)
I have started working on a quilt - right now just collecting fabrics to use. I'm going to try and re-create, in fabric, the lion painting that Alex did for me.
I made some initial contact with the owner / head designer at "Model Citizen", hopefully to meet to look at my shirt designs, get some advice, maybe even talk about starting to offer my shirts in his store. (This would hopefully be the sort of kick I need to actually work on shirts... though I have been sewing more lately in general.)
Dralen and Miami (and Caleb and sometimes Halex when he's in town, and a few others) have been jamming more lately, and I think are putting together some good material, and starting to sound like we have some potential... which is sorta exciting.
Had a martini party for Ash's birthday that turned out really well - I think we're planning on having another for New Year's Eve. I am excited!
Managing, slowly, to do some cleaning and organizing in the basement. I dream of a day when that place is actually functional instead of a goddamn messy storage pile.
About 80% done mounting a set of antlers from a deer I shot when I was 14. It's gonna look really nice, and I'm sorta happy about finally kind of "honouring" the life I took - by displaying it as a trophy, if that makes any sense. Made the wood plaque myself in Alex's grandfather's woodshop - OMG I want more access to woodworking toys!
I made a beanbag chair... it was originally intended to be a cushion for the papasan chair, but due to several issues, I don't know if it will ever be that. We'll see... all I know is that it is a pain in the ass to work on. I think I may have just got an idea, however, on how to finish it as intended.
Wine and cheese in a couple weekends - gotta start planning it. Want it to be a Christmas / holiday theme.
I guess that will do for now. I actually feel a bit better. Back to work!
