No pictures in this article - but it does confirm that Phelps' followers were held up at the border, and it does mention one of my signs, and one of Patches' signs too. :)

Every attempt I know of Phelps has made to come in has been denied. He tried to show up in Ottawa to protest there when I lived there. He never made it though.

Something about Hate Speech not being allowed in Canada most likely.

Maybe he himself was denied entry, but his supporters were in Ottawa in 1999, burning a Canadian flag and protesting the rights that had been recently recognized for homosexuals.

Beware though... That bit about looking into the abyss can certainly apply. It kinda screwed me up for a few days when I was in University and first read it.

I've actually worked with a couple groups that actively fought racism, sexism, homophobia, and basically so many forms of discrimation I can hardly keep track.

A few personal run-ins with Neo-nazis taught me the basic thing I need to know about people that hate: There's no way you can really understand it because it's not rational.

I may read through the link you provided, but after a while too much of the hate and madness just clouds me from being more proactive.

I found and read that at work yesterday. Yikes. Now I just want to torture Fred Phelps in the longest and painful manner I can image, and get the rest of his family help.
