The Wet Spots
Not entirely out-of-line with my Pride Week post, I stumbled upon The Wet Spots again, a fantastic and hilarious band who you might have seen when their video "Do You Take It?" (in the ass) swept the inter-tubes a year or so back. They've got a couple other videos on their web page as well, including the hilarious Hawaiian-flavoured "Labia Limbo" - featuring more sexual innuendo with tropical fruit than should be legally allowed in one video - and a Christmas carol about fisting. (Yes, that is what I just said. Christmas. Fisting. Just watch it.) Funny, funny stuff. I have seen their live show, it is awesome, their songs are hilarious and awesome, and they are awesome!
So - it looks like they have a few "play-dates", and those people in these areas should go see them!
First of all, kachera, they played a street party at Portland Pride on Sunday, June 15 - I hope you saw them! I wish I had found out about it a couple weeks ago! Sorry! Their blog mentions that they loved Portland and that they plan to be back soon, and possibly lookin' for new lovers.
I'm just sayin'.
Next, anyone in Toronto, they are hosting Tiki Brunch at the Cadillac Lounge (1296 Queen W. in Toronto) for the Toronto Burlesque Festival on Sunday, July 13 at 2pm - I wanna see it! Tickets are $20 and that doesn't even include brunch... but I really wanna see them. Any takers?
They play The Zipper Factory in New York City on July 27th, sadly a couple days before I get there for FA:United, and play 2 private shows (which it sounds like you can get access to if you try) at The Crucible in Washington, DC August 1 & 2 - I strongly suggest to anyone in those areas at those times to go see them, they are awesome!
