So, quick recap since last post for my own rememberance and then off with my day:
As I am about to head to the studio to pack up equipment with the band for the show Friday, I get a call from Miami, who informs me he has been in a car accident on the 401 (He and Wotan are both OK) and needs some help to get from the yard where they've been towed to somewhere so they can get home.
It's roughly on the way so I pick them up, put their stuff in my car, head to the studio to let people know the situation, etc. We get a screwdriver from Verec (owned by Yennix and we were told it must be returned "post haste") to get the plates off of the car, go do that, and then head to Club 279 where we'll be playing.
Once that is done I try to start figuring out how to get Miami and Wotan home. I invite them to stay for the show (which is supposed to happen at 10:30pm, this time with no "shuffling" of bands) and then I'll either take them back home (a 1.5h drive each way) or they can stay with me overnight or whatnot, and they agree. We have supper, blah blah blah etc.
The show was a disaster AGAIN, bigger than before - we kept getting moved back and back, I had a civil chat with the organizer about why he does that and I at least understand now what his thought process is. And, of course, now I feel like I can use him to our advantage instead of vice versa. We get moved SO late that we'll be playing at 1:30am and my friends are angry and tired and getting ready to leave. I go to find the organizer to demand some sort of compensation for their inconvenience, and he is nowhere to be found - he left for the evening. As the band before us is finishing, we realize that there is ANOTHER band who is setting up, who also think they are playing next. I talk to them, and to my band, and decide that we'll let them play and just leave.
Before the next band goes on, the sound guy makes a bit of an apology that things are running behind, and then I also make an apology for the band for not playing, but saying I'd rather have the other band get to play a full set instead of each of us play for 10 minutes, and give out 3 demo CDs to people who'd never heard us before... I think I came across very well and managed to back out with class and style, and leave a good impression instead of a bad one. So that's 3 CDs in the hands of people who'd not heard us, a good impression of us as a band who is a class act and not just attention whores, especially to other bands there who might want to play with us again, and I also managed to get contact info from a couple of other bands who are worthwhile playing with again. Now I have to talk to the band about how we are going to deal with this guy from now on, and go about getting my friends' money back: Pann, NuDog, Miami, Wotan, Dralen, FuzzMonster, and Wuffwolf (Well, I paid for Wuffwolf since he thought he'd be getting in for free on a guest list, which I couldn't find and he had no cash).
Then we pack up and leave. Jer is nice enough to agree to do all the unloading with Steve *again* so I can get Miami and Wotan home... and, as we leave, I realize that it's only 2:00am and I could get them home by about 3:00 instead of staying at my place... so we do that. I stay with Miami, and in the morning he sets me up with a
penis-and-testicle pumping session, ie. using a specially designed contraption to apply a vacuum to my "package" for about 1.5h in order to enlarge them (well the balls anyways), which I'd been sorta meaning to try since I'd seen the results on Miami before, and I thought it might be fun to have a larger-then-normal apparatus for the underwear party! So that was interesting, and the pony made me breakfast too, so it was all good!
And then I left back for Toronto. I picked some saskatoons from a tree by the street in front of my old apartment, then I got supplies from my place and headed over to Dralen's to help start preparing for the party. Shopping in Kensington Market was fun, prep wasn't TOO intensive and we had a gay old time, everyone showed up some 2h later than we were expecting, and it was for the most part a very nice evening, despite being a little chilly for underwear out on the deck... but the party moved to the living room and everyone was eventually in underwear, so it all worked out.
And then it was yesterday, which was pretty much filled with sleeping in, helping Kovu move to Dralen's, and doing not-very-much-else-useful. I did a load of laundry and tidied the kitchen a bit (only hours after AshBearFox had done a lovely job of it - things get so dirty so fast with 4 guys living in a small townhouse!) I was supposed to go into the studio with Jeremy and re-arrange one song, but he had to work suddenly and I can't do it myself.
I was left feeling in a weird funk last night... just felt lonely and unwanted (even though I know it's not true). Would have killed for someone to snuggle.
Also, the Weakerthans CD is pretty great.
So, now, to plan for my day and week. I leave for Winnipeg early Thursday morning. I need to sort out which "projects" I can take with me to do while I'm there (because I will have time) and which ones I want to tackle before or after, and what else do I need to do.
Before I leave:
Today:
Go for a run and do some push-ups, chin-ups, squats, and whatnot. This will keep me as much on track as I can be on my fitness regime while not paying $15/day at some gym. It will also energize me for the day. Done! And I can do a max of 3 chin-ups. I suck!
Shower and disinfect eyebrow ring (it's been getting infected again).
Stuff from the "General Before" list.
Small grocery shopping trip to keep me alive until I leave!
Do finances!
Hang out with Zart?
Disinfect eyebrow ring before bed.
Tomorrow (Tuesday):
Go for a run again, and do more push-ups, chin-ups, squats, and whatnot.
Shower and disinfect eyebrow ring.
Fix printer (required for many other tasks and Winnipeg-prep).
Stuff from the "General Before" list.
Meet Jer at the studio at 7:00pm and re-arrange "You're So Pretty".
Strawberry Margarita party at Dralen's? (send-off for FuzzMonster who leaves Friday) Not going to happen - did something of the sort last night anyways. :)
Disinfect eyebrow ring before bed.
Wednesday:
Go for a run again, and do more push-ups, chin-ups, squats, and whatnot. Must remember to allow a day of rest once in a while.
Shower and disinfect eyebrow ring.
Find someone to drop me off at the airport Thursday morning and pick me up on the morning of the 15th. Mostly done!
Pack for trip to Winnipeg!
Stuff from the "General Before" list.
Band Practice.
Disinfect eyebrow ring before bed.
Thursday:
Get to the airport at some STUPID hour of the morning, like 6:30am for a 7:30am flight.
General to do, Before Winnipeg:
WINE: Attend to raspberry wine! Based on a small tasting and thoughts from FuzzMonster and Dralen, it is well on it's way to being a decent wine!
WINE: Pick wild cherries and freeze? (The birds are eating them as soon as they are ripe, so... maybe no dice?)
JOB: Search for what's out there!
BAND: Prepare a calendar of gigs, vacations, studio time, etc. (for the band)
BAND: Start putting together a college and university "Frosh" tour for the band in early September.
BAND: Push the CD to completion! Need final mixes before I leave! (Jaime says he can be in Wednesday...)

FERAL! Work on Feral! transportation/insurance/logistics.
In Winnipeg:
Bonfire with my sister Kim, and her friends Joanne and Jennifer, at Kim's new place.
See my brother Darryl's new place, ask if he's still doing anything with music. Maybe see if we can dig out some of his old songs, because they were really quite good.
Hang out with Victor, if he's still in town - he's moving to Calgary any time now.
Talk with Dad about my old bow/arrows, do they still exist, what's needed to bring it back to Ontario with me, etc.
See everyone's new babies. Not that I want to, but I will have to.
Meet up with Matt to hang out at some point.
Meet up with Mosslyon for coffee at some point. Possibly other local furs.
Pick saskatoons to freeze and bring back? Ditto for other seasonal wild things I can't get in Ontario, if any... choke-cherries?
Raid my parents' freezers for wild meats to bring back.
Drop in on 101.5 UMFM (college radio station I used to DJ at) and maybe even some of the commercial radio stations in Winnipeg, and get contact info for when the Newspaper Taxi CD is ready.
General to do, Take with me to Winnipeg:
SEWING: Commissioned lion shirt.
SEWING: Modify snowboarding lion head to allow me to breathe more easily (kinda important). Also add magnetic tail attachment and improve closure of "shirt". Fix mane down a little better too. (This may be too bulky to justify taking.)
FERAL!: Finish tabbing out furry songs and learn them for Feral! Need some "special" arrangements for "Closer", "The Animal Song", "Foxy Lady", "The Bad Touch"... etc.
TAXES: Re-do taxes with RRSP contributions included.
SEWING: "Kangaroo" vest.
SEWING: Tailoring my black dress shirt.
SEWING: Fabric project - dye and paint on striped shirt. "Your adversary the Devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. (I Peter 5:8)" and another "Poor Branwyn wept, for he had no more worlds to conquer..."
General to do:
BAND: Keep collecting radio station contacts to send CD's to when ready!

PERS: Filing. Sort through papers, etc.
VIBE: Shampoo carpet and double-sided-tape front fascia skirt molding back down.
VIBE: Check out 6-CD-changer cartridge for car... see if I can identify if rolliebear's spare will work in my car. (I ordered one we'll see what it looks like when I get it... if I can use Rollie's it will be a spare.)
General to do, eventually:
FERAL!: Benchmark Feral! against Camp Camp (thanks for the link, joshuwain!) and see what I can learn that might help us improve Feral!
PERS: Report Superior Gas to the Better Business Bureau for lying to me. (I hate door-to-door sales.)
PERS: Decorate room - put up my carved masks, hang some curtains and such...
PERS: Apply surface to drafting board.
SEWING: black fur/suede bed comforter.
And now... exercise! Oh, and Happy Birthday, America! To my American friends, enjoy your Fourth of July!
