Big Bang: All Roads Lead to Nowhere

Jan 20, 2012 13:20

This is an art post for the Mentalist Big Bang (mentalist_bb).

Author: tromana
Artist: branquignole
Fic: All Roads Lead to Nowhere
Summary: After O'Laughlin's death, she thought it would eventually get easier. Seems Van Pelt's family has other ideas...
Art: banner, fanmix + cover art, translation

A/N: Hi hi! This is my very first Big Bang (so much fretting omg), and I was incredibly lucky to get such an awesome author on the first go. I'd really like to thank tromana for writing fabulous Van Pelt-centric, post-O'Laughlin fic, and for being generally excited and making this loads of fun! <3 Also, thank you and apologies to anyone I may have whined or capslocked at (or a combination of both) in both my enthusiasm and occasional despair. :D?

As for the art: graphics aren't my strong suit, this is my very first fanmix, and I'm probably the first person who did a translation for a Big Bang as 'art'. The translation is not a translation of the entire fic but rather one of a few selected scenes that inspired my song choices. I think that's all I have to say for now? I really enjoyed this, and I hope you guys (especially you, tromana) enjoy it too!

FANMIX

dine with the cannibals

intro. Friend of the Night (Mogwai)
instrumental

i. Cannibal's Hymn (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds)

I will sit like a bird on a fence
sing you songs with a happy ending
swoop down and tell you that it don't make sense
to attack the very thing you're defending

didn't I just buy that dress for you?
that pink paper pinafore you keep mending

well, if you're gonna dine with the cannibals
sooner or later, darling, you're gonna get eaten

ii. Samson (Regina Spektor)

Samson came to my bed
told me that my hair was red
told me I was beautiful and came into my bed

oh I cut his hair myself one night
a pair of dull scissors in the yellow light

iii. See the World (The Kooks)

I remember how we used to be
without the world upon our tv
well let it lie or you can take it back
wrap your life around evil's trap

but there you are, you're sailing away
and you know you never come away

iv. Rolling Home (Fool's Garden)

it's long ago when freddie came to kiss her
sometimes he's coming back into her mind

yeah yeah, yeah yeah-eah
just like a fallen tear in the sun
yeah yeah, yeah yeah-eah
we're all addicted to rolling homev. We Might as Well Be Strangers (Keane)

I don't know your thoughts these days
we're strangers in an empty space
I don't understand your heart
it's easier to be apart

vi. A Forest (The Cure)

I'm lost in a forest
all alone
the girl was never there
it's always the same

vii. Child Psychology (Black Box Recorder)

Life is unfair
kill yourself or get over it

viii. What Difference Does It Make (The Smiths)

I can surely rely on you
and yet you start to recoil
heavy words are so lightly thrown
but still I'd leap in front of a flying bullet for you

so what difference does it make?

ix. Road to Nowhere (Talking Heads)

We're on a ride to nowhere
come on inside
takin' that ride to nowhere
we'll take that ride

I'm feelin' okay this mornin'
and you know
we're on the road to paradise
here we go, here we go
