Random AudioBook Talk

So I'm 'reading' aka listening to downloaded audiobooks. I am sticking to YA books apparently and I figure if I ever buckle down and actually try to write a book (ha! I have no high ideals of getting published, but I would like to finish something eventually so I can say I did.) it will be considered YA since I am really a 12 year old girl ( Read more... )

Ooh! I will be investigating these after work! (I knew you'd know!) The Hunger Games is starting out good! I'm only a very little ways in but I'm interested.

Rick Riordin did Percy Jackson, right? I might look at his other stuff.

When I read the Hunger Games, I thought I wouldn't like it, because it got so much hype, that it couldn't be that good. But I thought it was that good!

And yes, Rick Riordan is the author of Percy Jackson. The Red Pyramid is based on Egyptian mythology. A brother and sister discover they're descendants from powerful royal families after their father unleashes 5 Egyptian gods. 1 of the gods, Set, is going to destroy the world if they don't stop him first.

Just finished a Nora Roberts book and started Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol so my tastes run from schmoopy potboilers to intense mysteries!

i had thought i would get more reading done once i finished school and started working...yeah, that didn't happen. although, i did start bringing a book to work and reading during lunch, thereby becoming the nerd who sat at her desk and read while eating. but reading is reading.

i'm currently in the middle of everything is illuminated, which is about a guy who goes looking for the family that helped his grandfather escape the nazis during WWII; he searches with his guide, a ukrainian translator who totally (and hilariously) butchers english, the guide's cranky grandfather, and the latter's dog, sammy davis, junior, junior.

i've been really curious about the the girl with the dragon tattoo, because i've seen so many people reading it, and i think they just made a film out of it. well, now i know that i'm probably not missing much ( ... )

My kids recommended The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness by Michelle Paver. I think there are 3 books in the series but I've enjoyed the first one so far.
Percy Jackson is next on my list. And they also highly recommend Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz which is the first in a series of about 8 books about a character called Alex Rider.

These might be a little young for your liking but I take their recommendations on board as they are a class that love reading and generally read teenage fiction.

Enjoy!

I'm torrenting them, searching "torrentz.com" by the author's name and picking out the audio ones. Hopefully the internet police are not looking for me.
