part onepart twopart three "I didn't think Taylor was crazy," Kirsten said, breaking the silence in the small waiting room.
"I didn't either. I mean, I believed Ryan, but Taylor...was always a little crazy, you know? Just not...homicidal crazy," Seth whispered.
"The hospital said he'd been admitted twice in the past two months. So she's been poisoning him for at least two months. And we didn't even know he'd been sick..." Sandy said.
This wasn't helping her feel better about this. "We should've listened harder. Gone and seen for ourselves. Something."
"Do you remember how happy they were when they got married? And when she had Jane?" Seth said. "And she was there for Summer during the divorce and she...never seemed like this..."
"Ryan always tries to handle everything himself and...he came to us and we didn't listen..." Kirsten said.
"Do you think he even knew? That he understood how bad it was?" Seth asked.
"He wouldn't leave her alone with Jane. And that...should have been the first sign that something was really wrong," Kirsten said.
Sandy stared at the floor.
"He would've left her if he really believed she'd hurt Jane," Seth said.
"He loves Taylor, too. He wouldn't have left," Sandy said.

"Where am I?"
"It doesn't matter."
"Am I dead?"
"No. Not yet, anyway. But that's up to you."
"What? I don't want to die."
"It's up to you."
"How?"
"You'll get your chance to choose."
"I don't want to die. I've already made my choice, I don't want to die."
"It's not time yet. You have to wait. Enjoy this while you can."
"What's there to enjoy?"
"This is probably the last peace you'll have for a while. Especially if you don't make the right choice."
"So you're saying I should give up? Die and leave my daughter, leave my family? That I'd be better off?"
"I'm not saying anything. You're just hearing what you want to hear."

Summer took a deep breath and checked to make sure her eyes weren't too swollen. She'd been crying all morning, trying and failing to comfort baby Jane and Sophie and then getting this phone call.
Ryan was out of surgery but in ICU indefinitely. The Cohens still weren't getting to see him and until one of them saw him in person; she wasn't going to believe anything.
"Ma'am? You can go in now," the nurse said, stepping aside.
She'd never been to a mental hospital before. Even when her father had his first stroke, he hadn't lost his mind.
She couldn't believe that Taylor had lost hers. She was always in such control. She'd always been the most optimistic woman she knew.
Taylor was too strong for this.
She'd been so in love with Ryan - always - and this just...was wrong. It was all wrong.
Taylor was sitting on the edge of the bed, her fingers twisting the hem of her hospital gown.
"Taylor?"
Her friend looked up at her with dull eyes. "Summer...you came. Does that mean...it's not true, is it?"
"Which part?" Summer asked, not going over to the bed and sticking close to the door.
"They say...I killed Ryan...but I love Ryan, and Jane, and I wouldn't..."
"You stabbed him. Twenty six times," Summer said. "But you didn't kill him. At least, not yet..."
Taylor had tears streaming down her face when she looked up again.
"You were poisoning him. For months! You can't say you didn't want to kill him, or you didn't know...you were putting mercury into his vitamins!"
"I...I didn't think it was real...I thought I was dreaming...I...didn't know it was real..."
"So you just had dreams every night about killing the man you just said you loved?" Summer said, not able to control her emotions.
"I...I'm not a kid anymore...I didn't think I had to take the pills anymore...I went off them when I was pregnant and I just...didn't start taking them again...I didn't think it was real, I thought I was over the crazy, I thought..."
"What are you talking about? You were on medication?" Summer asked, stunned. What the fuck?
"I always thought Mom was lying about me needing them...I never told anybody and I...oh my god, what have I done? Ryan...oh god..."
Summer turned and walked out of the room when Taylor started to sob.
She shouldn't have come here.
She shouldn't have come.

"What would you do if you knew that Jane was going to inherit the same problems as her mother? Would you go back?"
"What would you do if you knew Sophie was going to die in a plane crash? Would you go back?"
"What would you do if you knew that Kirsten was going to start drinking again? She's going to crash her car into an ice cream truck and lose her legs? Would you go back?"
"What would you do if you knew your father had been beating Julie and your baby brother all these years? Would you go back?"
"Would you go back?"
"Would you go back?"
"Tell me. Will you go back?"
"Is any of that true?"
"Will you go back?"
"Is it true?"
"Will you go back?"
