Yuletide Letter '12
Dear Yuletide Author,
Thanks so SO much in advance! If you're clever and brave enough to offer to write in any of the fandoms below I'm sure I'll absolutely love what you've written. I've done Yuletide for a few years now and it's one of my favorite things about the holiday season. Just knowing that you've crafted a fic specifically with me in mind is enough to make me giddy. Relax. Have fun. Go where your imagination takes you. That's how you'll write the best and most enjoyable fic you can.
I like all sorts of fic, though I do have a soft-spot for some of the following: character studies; fic exploring super-close, potentially unhealthy relationships (see Breaking Bad and all the things it does to me); fic featuring queer characters, or reinterpreting (queering) a character's sexuality or gender. I like smut, or romance (as long as it's not too saccharine or OOC), or gen. I prefer my fic to fit within bounds of canon, and not to be something that could potentially be jossed by the show. (Like I'd prefer if anything written for Breaking Bad occurred during what had already aired, but with The Wire I'd love something post-show because there's nothing official left to add to canon); I love cross-overs (and I think The Wire and Breaking Bad are practically begging for one. I've tried to write it once and failed. This is what I get for loving shows that are too smart for me.) I'm a sucker for angst.
Cons: mpreg, the usual squicks i.e. water-sports, extreme S&M etc, holiday themed fic, I don't like genderswap of the alwaysagirl/boy kind but trans or gender queer interpretations are interesting.

20th Century CE RPF
Character(s): Amelia Earhart, Eleanor Roosevelt
Details: I would love a fic of the two of them hanging out and being bad-asses together. Amelia teaching Eleanor to fly, them sneaking away from a boring state dinner to wander around DC. I don't know. Anything! If you want to include romantic undertones (or overtones) I would be tickled, but just them being friends is awesome enough.
So a friend mentioned off-hand to me once that these two were rumored to have had a lesbian relationship and as soon as I could I scoured the internet, and then the library, for something exploring this rumor. Imagine my disappointment when I could find nothing. If you want to fill this shocking hole that would be great, but if you'd rather explore their relationship as platonic that'd be awesome too. These BAMF ladies will make anything awesome.
I've always been a sucker for aviatrixes, if you want to include some others that'd be cool. I could also see some Alternate History or Steam Punk being really interesting here. (I know, the era is a little late for technically, but just look at all the goggles!)
The Wire
Character(s): Duquan Weems
Details: I want a fix-it fic for Duquan so badly. Maybe Prezbo manages to save him. Maybe he saves himself. Maybe he even lives a fulfilling life as a junkie somehow. Just something to get him out of the junkyard that's the last place we see him.
I'll just copy/paste what I wrote last year here. This is the second year I've requested this. I never thought I'd care about Duquan this long.
Season four is probably my favorite of the show, and the bits between Duquan and Michael in season five made me really happy, so, needless to say, where the show left Duquan kind of crushed me. (I know to expect this from The Wire, but what else is fanfic for if not fixing things like this?)
The Wire is too smart for me, and I readily admit this. I can't keep the characters straight, and I often forget vital plot lines, but I loved it anyway, and this tended to be because of the way I latched on to certain characters. Other favorites of mine were Prezbo and Bubbles. Maybe Bubbles and Duquan meet and form a bond somehow? I don't know. I never offer to write this fandom cuz it intimidates me, so if you have, good on you. You're braver than I am. Just make Duquan happy, if even for a moment--I'm not opposed to bitter-sweet things--and I'll thank you profusely.
Breaking Bad
Character(s): Jesse Pinkman, Walter White
I want to know more about their relationship! It's fascinating, and twisted, and awful, and I feel terrible for loving it but I do. If you want to make it sexual and/or romantic I'd be totally down with that, but if that's not your bag gen fic is awesome too. This could be a missing scene, some cooking montage we didn't get to see, or an exploration of their relationship when Jesse was still in Mr. White's chemistry class, or anything that explores their fucked up bond.
Jesse Pinkman ran away with my heart. I think it was 'Peekaboo' that really did it to me. And I feel all sorts of gross for shipping him with Walter White, but I can't quite help myself. Even if you interpret their relationship as platonic (which is totally fine with me. I always feel like I'm pressuring people into writing me my ships. Don't feel pressured. Write what you want) there are still all sorts of fascinating complexities to explore. My favorite episodes of the series, apart from the aforementioned 'Peekaboo' are '3 Days Out' and 'Fly.'
I don't think Jesse is an idiot and I don't think he's "evil" the same way Walt is. (Not that evil is a good word to describe Walt. He's too complex for that.) Jesse is just super loyal and in over his head.
Another thing that could be really interesting to explore is his relationship with his younger brother, Jake. Jesse's family life is rife with angst that the show has barely explored.
Singin' in the Rain
Character(s): Cosmo Brown
I want to know more about Cosmo. I want to know about his backstory with Don. I want to know what he did before he even met Don. I want to know how he fits into the dynamics post-movie. Are he, Don, and Kathy a happy threesome? Is he jealous? I just want more Cosmo Brown in my life! (This goes beyond anything I even have a right to request, but ever since I saw Some Like It Hot I've been wondering what would happen if that duo and/or the whole gang met the duo and/or the whole gang from Singin' in the Rain. If you want to give that a shot I'd be over the moon, but, like I said, I realize this goes entirely beyond the realms of a reasonable request.)
Donald O'Connor, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Or actually, how about I don't, because we'd be here for ever. (I did make a post about it years back that might give you some idea.) And I think Cosmo is really the quintessential Donald O'Connor character.
If you want to interpret his relationship with Don as sexual and/or romantic I'd be thrilled, but really, Don doesn't even have to be in the fic at all, or he can be happily paired up with Kathy. I just want more of Cosmo being quirky and funny, and maybe just a little bit sad and downtrodden. Because I am an awful sucker for angst even when it's for something as cheerful as this movie.
I realize the crossover request goes way beyond the bounds of what yuletide is all about. So don't do it unless you really, actually want to.
