My biblical horror story, “Feast of the Torn,” has finally made it to publication. Buzzy Magazine has it on their website at http://buzzymag.com/feast-of-the-torn-by-brandie-tarvin/. I’m absolutely thrilled.
Some of you have read about the horror behind this story. After being rejected for the anthology that I wrote it for, I piled up other rejections until a few rewrites later I received an offer on it from another magazine. Unfortunately, they wanted the sun, the moon, the stars, and the action figure rights. Pretty much everything. Further examination of the contract made me cringe. This was the first time I turned down an offer of publication because I didn’t like the terms. It broke my heart. I honestly thought “Feast” would never see the light of day.
And now, here it is, published and readable and using contract terms I can actually live with. I still don’t know how action figures could come out of this story.
