No one has of yet responded to my “Donate to the American Red Cross” attempts, and there’s only 3 days left before the deadline. That saddens me. The ARC-DRF is one of the few charity organizations around that doesn’t have a specific religious or political agenda (in my opinion). They help whomever needs help without judgment, without preaching, and without strings. This is why I donate to it yearly through my employer’s charity program.

I get that people don’t have a lot of money in this economy, which is why I didn’t bother to set a specific amount on this. Unfortunately, I think that might be part of what killed my fundraising attempts.

The contest will still be open through August 4th. If anyone does donate and post proof, they’re almost guaranteed to win one of the prizes. If they don’t, then this donation-contest will die a sad, lonely death and the prizes will remain in the hands of the people who offered them.

HOWEVER, I have decided to see how many people are actually reading my blog. So, in a fit of whimsy, I am offering up a random drawing $25.00 gift card to either Amazon or Barnes & Noble Bookstores (winner’s choice) from the pool of people who comment on my blog (on any posted topic) during the month of August. Of course, I shall require a method of contact for the winner, so make sure to include your Twitter handle or website (with contact information) or email addy in your comments.

Caveat: Spam comments are not eligible. And I expect you to say something vaguely meaningful about the subject of the post you choose to comment on, even if you disagree with me. Don’t just post “Gimmie the card” and expect that to qualify you.

So tell me, peeps, are you there? Is anyone reading?

If a blog posts on an empty internet, did it really post?
