While Lonnie's sleeping still :) I thought I should do some reflecting on what I am thankful for this year. Please don't mind the free form.
I am thankful for:
*Family: being so much closer to them than I have for the past 5 years, I wish it hadn't been so long. The fact that I live 1 mile from my dad and 30 mins from my "main" family (I suppose you could say) is amazing. My mom brought me soup when I had my teeth out, just to be nice and supportive, it's those kinds of things that can happen now. And I get to see them all today
*Friends: being back on the "westside" I feel like I can see more of my friends more often. I have really been trying to stay in contact with folks and rekindle old friendships. I love my friends, they can be supportive, fun, a riot, forces to push me to better myself, etc. I enjoy that I (and my friends seem to be as well) am the kind of person that can not have seen someone for years and then meet at a coffee shop and pick up EXACTLY where we left off.
*Social Networking sites: how else could I keep in touch with so many people? People I may have lost contact with and only been able to find with the help of some "private detective" or something?! :) Really, even with al of their faults, social networking sites have changed the way I keep in contact and show support to those of my friends I can't physically see day by day.
*My job: oh my goodness, what can I say. This job is rewarding and challenging, but the institution I work for now is all I've ever wanted. The goals and values match up so closely with my own. Not to say that I shouldn't be in a place of challenging, thought provoking issues that may change my current values-but isn't it nice to be somewhere where your perspectives are important?
*Time: oh time, how you've slipped through my hands yet again this year. And now I look towards 24 in a few weeks and realize that by this time in my parent's lives..I was 5. And how many of my colleagues will be done with Grad School this year and what do I have to show? Not. But nonetheless, I have captured some time, enough time to spend with my most loved, time to work out, time to do chores, even time to watch tv and play video games! Yes, even though I seem to be in a never ending battle with you, my friend, I am starting to win.
*Speaking of loved one, I can't believe I didn't mention him earlier! Lonnie: I don't want to gush, you all already know. I love him. I constantly catch us doing wacky things and think "wow, if there were cameras following us, people would either really get a kick out of us or think we were completely bonkers."
Anyway, thank YOU whoever reads this, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
