Yesterday I was frantically working in my office to get ready for closing, when a resident barged in, walked past my desk and gave me a huge hug. She said "I just wanted to say goodbye, because I'm leaving on Friday and I don't know if I'll see you." She went on to say "this year has had it's ups and downs, but I have really grown a lot." I interacted with this resident fairly infrequently, so I was surprised when as she walked out she said "I wanted to say bye, since I didn't know if I'd see you. I'll see you next year though!"
I didn't have the heart to correct her.
It's funny how you go through the whole year feeling like no one likes you, you're doing a terrible job, everyone's judging you, no one respects you, and you really shouldn't be somewhere...only to receive feedback completely opposite after it's too late to change the course of your path.
