5th Branch: Welcome to the stage of blood and carnage
Ganta is bleeding from various injuries from his person. He also feels a familar weight he had though he had gotten rid of within the past few days. It was the collar. The symbol of his imprisonment was strapped around his neck once more. Only now he felt the poison coursing through his body causing his body to refuse to listen to him unless he exerted his will which was already starting to falter.
He hears the familar voice of Nagi, the leader of Scar Chain. He turns around to see the man only to watch as he is murdered by Genkaku, the leader of the Undertakers. Ganta tries to quickly summon up enough of his blood to use his Ganta Gun but every shot that he makes is destroyed by the weapons of the Undertakers who have appeared and started to slaughter all of his friends that he made while in prison in addition to a few people he had met while in the City. Ganta keeps trying to save his friends and tries to make his blood bullets break the sound barrier like he did but that doesn't have any effect. As the bloodshed and carnage continues Ganta hears a familiar song start to play once again.
The naughty little woodpecker
The Woodpecker song. The same one he listened to as a child and only began to hear again, first being sung by The Red Man and then again in the prison. Ganta tried to pick his body up from the ground only to slip and fall onto the bloodstained floor.
"Stop it...stop it..."
Knocked holes, crumbling the forest
The angry wood god turned his beak into poison
The poor little woodpecker, his nest was poison, and his supper too
He touched his friends and they all died
The boy turns as he hears the screams of Karako as she and other girls that he knew struggle to get away from several Undertakers that have something else aside from killing in mind. He struggles to get up to rescue them but the poison and the injuries keep stopping him from doing anything.
"Stop! DON'T HURT THEM, PLEASE!"
As he manages to get back up he is knocked back to the ground by a man cloaked in red. The Red Man.
"The sad little woodpecker, his little poison tears twinkle and shine. Feeling sad, Woodpecker?" the blood splattered murder crooned while holding the severed head of his classmate and an immensely dazed Shiro.
Ganta let out a soul wrenching wail of despair as the carnage continued with The Red Man laughing mockingly at him.
