Family,
This week has been a pretty good one. You are probably curious about my subject. let me explain. We are in an internet cafe, but if I look to my right all I see is the bar with tons of alcolhol and some Orangina, and the CD must be Michael Jacksons Greatest hits. It's hilarious. Brings back some funny memories of us in Utah when we lived in the last house and we made that sweet Spook Alley for Mom and Dad.
Anyway this week has been cool. I went to Osijek again for the second time. And that makes it official. I have been in every city in the mission and can find my way to the church and the Elders apartment in every city. Thats sort of funny, I would admittedly have more trouble finding the Elder appartment if I had to go back to Split. Still, if I could get there, I could definatly get to the Church there. Anyway...
So Elder Smith and I have a baptismal date with Marko for the 7th of October. Given we wanted it to be the 30th of this month, but still. That may actually still happen. It's highly realistic. We're really doing everything that we can to show him that he's ready. He had some really BIG things that he had to get through, but he's doing it and he's ready to enter the waters of baptism. He just needs to quit chewing his niccoret gum and then we will be almost golden. Let me tell you a little about him. Elder Moore and Brunner found him 1 year ago, he had a baptismal date but during the interview it became apparent that he may not be able to be baptized. A few weeks ago President had an interview with him, and he has repented and is totally ready. Infact President asked us to baptize him in 2 weeks. That isn't going to happen unless he gets baptized this weekend, which won't happen, but we tried. Croats are really scared about moving into something new, and sometimes it makes things really hard. They don't like change, even though 85% of the time or more... change is good. Okay. So. He is the nicest guy in the world, would do anything for anyone. Way kind, way yeah... just a really nice man.
I am not quite settled into Zagreb, although it was nice to sit during the sacrament yesterday. It's the first week in a VERY long time where I haven't spoken, blessed, passed, taught, or something in church. And it was nice to listen. I don't know. It's like moving into a ward. Ha. Weird. Elder Smith and I are definately getting along. We're already fast friends and I am filling up my word pad really quickly sice working him him. He's fantastic. Love him to death, I really really hope I get him for more than one transfer. My Croatain has already improved since getting with him. Which oh yeah, I'd like one more thing for my birthday. It's this way sweet Croatian dictionary. It's 500 kuna (90$ or so)(could I take that out of the fund that I already have from the bills reimbursment?) It's way big though. Ha. We need it though. Anyway yeah, so our District is awesome too. It's the first time Walker has been my District Leader, and he's great at it. It's way fun to be working with him again. I feel bless to have someone who works that hard to seek inspiration for us. It's awesome. We are going to restart the Joseph Smith focus with the members and see if we can't get them more excited about the work here. It's really important. A prophet of God has told us that they are the key to this work. We've also been told that the members should be the finders and the missionaries should be the teachers. We're going to do our best to make that happen. It's important that it happens like that. There are 5 baptismal dates in this zone right now though, and so we're pleased, but not enough. I am excited to see how it goes.
My health is doing better. I couldn't find my inhaler this entire week until this morning. But Elder Smith and I run every other day, and so I usually come in and nearly die, but eventually it goes away. Could you send another inhaler when its convieniant. The one I have is almost gone. But yeah, we are also sort of dieting. Elder Smith wrestled in High School and did sports so he knows what he's doing. I am going to put on 10 of muscle, and he's going to lose 10. haha. Oh yeah, I figured out today, that I now weight well over 170. That is hilarious. When I left I weighed a little under 160, and now I think I weight about 175 hold on I will check. Yeah 176. That means I think I have about 6 pounds on Michael. At least before I left, he has been Married now for over a year so maybe he weighs more. Thats way funny to me. Anyway.
Here is some exciting news. I get to go to Varaždin tomorrow! I am so pumped. Be in the presence of the Heaths and E. Langer, one of my favorites.I have been his ZL for a really long time. With the exception of about 3 months of his mission. Ha, actually Sister Kinzie has only got about 1 transfer with me not being her ZL. It's cool. We are going to tear it up, maybe go visit some people that I haven't seen. Hopefully see Patrik and Patricija, and Dunja, oh dang. I hope that they are all doing well. Right now they need to work on contacting. I hope that we can get some really good work. I will actually be there, and Smith will ahve Urien go with him. It should be really quick and easy. Anyway. I think that is all the news that I have for this week, I love you all, and hope all is well!
