Steamboat Geyser Erupts!

Steamboat Geyser erupted at 6:30 p.m. on July 31st!  That's big news at Yellowstone, as Steamboat last erupted in 2005 according to park officials :-)    There's at least one video and some pictures uploaded to Yellowstone's facebook pag; the family was driving along the loop road and saw it erupting.  They had time to get to the basin, park their ( Read more... )

There's a new video on the Yellowstone facebook page of the "steam phase." Steamboat was roaring like a freight train; I can't even imagine camping in that area while it was going on!!

:) Excellent. By the way, my mom was outraged that I hadn't told her as soon as I found out. I was feeling smug that I found out through LJ, but didn't tell her that:D

lol actually you were my first thought when I found out and I was trying to figure out how to share it with you so I posted about Steamboat hoping you would see it; my last post before this was over a year ago :-) I love the Yellowstone facebook page because they are very quick to post info, and also posting pictures that other tourists sent in from their visits

Social media is how I found out about who the new Dr. Who hours before any of my friends that are actually Dr. Who fans here (I'm not) did.
