Back from Great Britain

Back home again! We had a wonderful time in Great Britain, after the obligatory car fiasco *dun dun dunnn*
Apparently a van that seats seven...seats seven people or four people and their luggage, but not both. We had to leave the older three boys at the airport in Bristol, ferry my mom and Jordan to the Hotel in Bath where they let us check in 3 hours early, BLESS THEM!! Then, back to Bristol to get the boys and head BACK to the hotel again. Saturday was pretty much a wash. But then things got much much better :-)

Sunday we headed to Wales and saw Tintern Abbey and Raglan Castle. Both were incredibly beautiful and I felt very Merlin-y driving along the tiny roads through the Forest of Dean where the boys had been only a week earlier *VBG* Monday we went to Salisbury where I finally got a cell-phone ( LG-Pop) and toured Salisbury Cathedral. Also saw Stonehenge, Avebury and made a quick detour through Lacock. Unfortunately we were losing the light and didn't get to see Lacock Abbey. Still, was awesome!!

Tuesday we walked into Bath to see the Roman baths, then took the Train to Paddington Station. Our hotel was only 2 blocks from Paddington, so that was uber convenient for us :-) Wednesday we took a tourbus, went to St. Paul's Cathedral where Jacob climbed to the TIPPY TOP of the dome because he's young and healthy and us old folks weren't.    Then to the Tower of London :-)  Always a crowd pleaser, I was especially impressed with how much closer one could get to the Crown Jewels than the last time I was there in 2002.  V. Nice!     Thursday we began with another tour and went as a group to the British Museum to see cool things like the Rosetta Stone and Elgin Marbles, then split up.  Grandma, Jacob and I went to the National Gallery, while Jim and the boys went to the Science Museum.   Friday it was a free-for-all.  Grandma, Jacob and I went to Westminster Abbey? then Buckingham Palace; Jim and the other boys went to the London Aquarium and the Globe Theatre.   We all had fun riding the Underground.  Saturday it was back to the airport and flying home.   Security was tight but not too bad; three checkpoints, but never took off our trainers.   Jeremy had his hair searched ;-p

Glad to be back; would love to go again, next time I want to spend a lot of time in Wales!!!

All in all, it was a great trip; I'd especially love to go to Wales and spend more time exploring there :-)
