new icon

stolen from my friend Jon from Brookings.

With how horribly things have gone for Dean (ONLY 30 percent win in Washington, that large union pulling their support of him) it seems that this new icon represents my ideals more than putting a 'Kerry in 04' icon.

Today's caucus was very interesting at the very least, and from my perspective, of course terribly disappointing. i think there were 13 at my table, seven for Kerry, one for Clark, five for Dean. I managed to sway the Clark guy to going for Dean and one other lady that was supporting Kerry a little more than Dean to trade to Dean if needed, to make sure that the little decimals game was played correctly so no delegate went wasted. It felt good to be able to appeal a few into thinking about the big picture. A lot of the ol grannies that were at the table noted that the younger kids there were for Dean, the grannies for Kerry mostly. I argued a couple points on Dean's behalf: 1) He activated a lot of disenfranchised democrats to get involved in politics again, quite possibly getting enough of these armchair voters engaged to make sure we send Bush back to Crawford, 2) His continued participation in the primaries would ensure Kerry was constantly on his toes and not getting lazy if he does end up against Bush in Nov, and 3) Dean was obviously compassionate in his beliefs, median has portrayed him poorly and he is animated because he believes, and he started running for prez long before anyone else in the race... these arguments worked. I was then nominated to act as a delegate for Dean for my precinct. I decided i would be an alternate, and let a girl my age from the Dean group go instead, as she was just as compassionate, though not as outspoken.

I can still hope Dean is offered a VP spot with Kerry. I dont want things to be over for him. I think America would be ready for a Dean in 4 or 8 years with VP experience under his belt.
