islefan029: nice comments
dressed tokill21: yea.. i thought id add some spice
dressed tokill21: but you know im kidding about that
islefan029: i just responded with something thats serious, for once
islefan029: yeha didnt bother me, its good that you are keeping it light cuzs i just made it serious
dressed tokill21: im usually sick of being intellectual in class to add anything significant
dressed tokill21: but im reading it and you both make well rounded points
islefan029: well thats the bitch of it...we are probably both right and wrong at the same time
dressed tokill21: thats politics
dressed tokill21: if everyone was right all the time.. we would live in a utopia
dressed tokill21: and we know how those work out.. now well
dressed tokill21: 1985? brave new world? not gonna happen
islefan029: 85 was a good year
dressed tokill21: quite so
dressed tokill21: but the book depicts another portrait of years gonna asunder
islefan029: yeah. inacuratley.
dressed tokill21: its fiction.. written in the 1940's
islefan029: thats right
islefan029: its fiction
dressed tokill21: but its a picture of a utopia
dressed tokill21: and in all of these so called fiction books, the utopias end in disaster
islefan029: thats why they are fictions
islefan029: fiction=not true
dressed tokill21: but do you believe one would work?
islefan029: haha if you think about that question, its impossible to answer
dressed tokill21: well then
dressed tokill21: start thinking.. and get back to me in a billion years
islefan029: if it was ACTUALLY utopian, which could never happen, then by definition it would work
islefan029: but there is no such thing as a utopia becasue people interpret things differently
dressed tokill21: ahh..
dressed tokill21: my point exactly
islefan029: how can vegeterians and carnivores share a utopian resteraunt?
dressed tokill21: hence.. the dilemma you and wes are having
islefan029: right
islefan029: i think that our curent administration is doing as good a job as it can. NO president in our history has faced as much adversity as bush
islefan029: a war, attacks on america, natural disasters...
islefan029: you name it, its happened in his presidencty
dressed tokill21: lincolns was probably more tumultious than his
islefan029: fuck lincoln. he got what he deserved
dressed tokill21: keeping the union together.. americans fighting each other.. ending slavery
islefan029: he did not end slavery
dressed tokill21: yes.. but he tried to.. atleast he starting the wells on it
islefan029: man dont make me lecture you like you arent the history major.
islefan029: in the civil war, we were split into two countries
islefan029: can anyone tell me what they were?
islefan029: the union, and the what?
dressed tokill21: confederate states of america
islefan029: the confederacy, very good mr charleston
islefan029: now, lets take this a but farther
islefan029: bit*
dressed tokill21: suuure
islefan029: confederates rocked the south
islefan029: union rocked out in the north
islefan029: no
dressed tokill21: the union lost 3 men to 1 confederate man
islefan029: not my point
islefan029: bear with me
dressed tokill21: ok
islefan029: the president of the union was old abe
dressed tokill21: yes
islefan029: and the president of the confederate states was jefferson davis
dressed tokill21: yes.. well technically, if you really consider it another country
islefan029: thats my point
dressed tokill21: ?
islefan029: it was, at the time, another country. abe freed the slaves in a country that did not belong to him. if he was not the president of the confederate states of america, which he CLEARLY was not at the time, he had absokutley no authority over their policies.
dressed tokill21: ok but listen up dummy head
islefan029: nope
islefan029: im done
islefan029: class is over. i will not entertain questions
dressed tokill21: the war was ended.. lee gave up his army to grant
dressed tokill21: a week later.. lincoln was dead
dressed tokill21: two weeks after that.. the 13th amendment ended slavery
dressed tokill21: to technically.. he did free the slaves in america
dressed tokill21: there MY lesson is over
islefan029: emancipation proclomation was in january 1863. the war did not end until 1865
dressed tokill21: guess what
dressed tokill21: the emancipation proclamtion didnt end slavery
dressed tokill21: it wasnt supposed to
dressed tokill21: it was just a proclamation that he wanted to, read it again
dressed tokill21: he had intentions of freeing the slaves AFTER the union was back in tact
dressed tokill21: which congress did two weeks after his death
islefan029: i get that the 13th ammendment wasnt ratified until the end of 65, but that being said, the procolmation of amnesty and reconstruction was december 1863, and that was one of the biggest steps twoard the abolishment of slavery.
dressed tokill21: towards it.. but it didnt abolish it
islefan029: yeah but come on man...it wasnt OFFICIAL until 65 but the steos were being taken
dressed tokill21: steos?
islefan029: why am i so historical and political in arguments with friends the past few days? jesus
islefan029: steps, assface
dressed tokill21: listen.. ill say this, quoting lincoln "if i can free all the slaves to save the union I would, If I could free none of the slaves to save the union I would"
dressed tokill21: his main priority was the union, slavery second.. but the steps were taken, though that major considering people hated him on both sides
islefan029: how does that make sense
dressed tokill21: if the gallop polls were back then, he would have a lower rating then bush right now
islefan029: yeah...
dressed tokill21: im done
islefan029: so...i win
dressed tokill21: that what
dressed tokill21: bush has the hardest time as president?
islefan029: i didnt say that
islefan029: i said he faced the most adversity
dressed tokill21: you dont think FDR did?
dressed tokill21: depression, restoring the ecomony, attack on america, war
islefan029: fuck FDR.
dressed tokill21: all with mother fucking polio
islefan029: we are having a recession now too
islefan029: and look at oil prices
dressed tokill21: yea. but thats not a depression ass
islefan029: yeahm cuz bush did a better job with the economy than roosevelt
dressed tokill21: no he did not.. fdr helped us get outta hte depressoin with his new deal plan and along with the war, it stilmulated the economy
dressed tokill21: this war is not doing that right now
islefan029: this war isnt about the economy, its about the fucking absolute uselessness of NATO
dressed tokill21: ill agree that its useless
dressed tokill21: as is the UN
islefan029: yeah
islefan029: and opec
dressed tokill21: the only one that works is the EU
dressed tokill21: and thats barely making headway
islefan029: not even
dressed tokill21: NAFTA is a shame
islefan029: so is nasa
dressed tokill21: yea.. ill agree on that
islefan029: so in conclusion
islefan029: abbreviations suck
dressed tokill21: more like acconyms
islefan029: whats an acconym?
islefan029: shouldnt there be an 'r' in there somewhere?
dressed tokill21: yea probably
islefan029: so did i win this argument yet?
dressed tokill21: no body wins in politics
dressed tokill21: even if they are the majority winner in votes
dressed tokill21: theres also another side to look at
islefan029: well the majority winner can lose elections
dressed tokill21: politics is fickle and will always be
dressed tokill21: no shit
islefan029: thank you electoral college
islefan029: THAT is stupid
islefan029: thats the biggest farce in politics
islefan029: that popular vote is useless
dressed tokill21: yea..
dressed tokill21: well then we would have a semi dictatorship.. a parliment if you will
islefan029: the person who gets the most votes should be the winner. that DEFINES democracy
dressed tokill21: ok.. ill get into that another time
dressed tokill21: I gotta do work
