I'm not too bothered about punctuation to be honest, as long as you got the jist. Obviously you're being pedantic, so allow me to retort.

Because I "Went" so many places, I thought I would draw attention to it by emphasising it.

Also, seeing as I'm being pedantic, I might as well point out that it's "gist," and not "jist".
