Vacation!

So, this past Labor Day weekend, unteins and I went down to Southern California to visit his friends and his sister. We left on Saturday afternoon, after I snuck out of work early, and arrived at Taryn and Sterling's (Sterling was Jason's best man in our wedding, and Jason and Taryn were friends from college) house. We hung out and had fun... Boy do I wish Jason and I could own a house. It seemed so nice, even though Sterling seemed to complain about all of the yard work and stuff, just to have the space to spread out and to decorate and design your house the way you want it to be seemed so nice.

Sunday we went to church with them, and I got to see where Jason used to go to church. Everyone there was really friendly. Then Taryn had to go off to meetings, so Sterling, unteins and I met up with Rick and Heather for lunch (Rick was also in our wedding and Rick, Heather and Jason also went to college together). We hogged the table and hunt out for a while after lunch just chatting away until Rick and Heather had to get away. So, Jason took me on a tour of Thousand Oaks. I got to see his old college - California Lutheran University. It seemed like a nice school. Then we headed off to Jason's sister's house, to eat, yet again. She was BBQing... and she made brownies. Yum!

After dinner and chatting, we headed back to Taryn and Sterling's and we rented XMen and ate Skinny Cows and popcorn (no, not more food!)

Monday, Jason and I ditched everyone and went to Disney's California Adventure. We got there just in time for the opening. The park was not crowded at all. We went on almost every ride there. We loved California Screamin'. We went on it 4 times! Twice in the front row, once in the back, and one time in the middle. The back really whips you around, but the front is awesome. Soaring over California was cool. I think it would have been cooler if we were in the center section and rode in the front, as we were kind of on the end of the ride. We played Who Wants to be a Millionare and I even made it into the top 10! But of course I didn't make it into the hot seat. We at lunch at the winery and our waiter was fun. I think the only rides we missed were the Animation tour. We went on this at Walt Disney World, and Jason and I decided to get a headstart on our long return home instead. We also missed the carausel as it broke down right before we were going to ride on it and we never made it back in that direction. I think we also missed 2 of the Boardwalk rides - The jelly fish one and the Zephyr. Othewise, we did everything. We even ate like 3 tortillas at the Misison Factory... Yum! We both really enjoyed DCA, but felt that it was worth the $47 admission for the first visit, but not worth it to return. We got a Southern CA resident special where we got 2 parks for the price of one (to be used within 1 month), so we hope to go back one of these weekends.

After we left the park, we hit downtown disney just to quickly check it out. We eventually headed home about 6:30ish. We ended up getting stuck in a car fire accident traffic for about 1 hr, so, our headstart didn't help us too much. We got home around 1:30 am :)
