Hello all! How's everything going? I can't believe my one-year employee evaluation is coming up. The time has gone by ridiculously fast. I had to do this huge packet of paperwork for the evaluation, like grading myself 1 to 5 on all these different criteria, and outlining career goals for the next year, and listing all my continuing education hours and "self-development" hours (basically all the staff meetings I'd been to). It took FOREVER. However, I do get like a 9% raise after working there a year, so I guess it's worth it.

Other exciting news from work: I got exposed to swine flu! I never developed symptoms, so I didn't have to go to the doctor or anything, but this one patient I admitted turned out to have an active case. There was another lady on our unit who was pregnant and got swine flu, and she lost the baby :/ Then she got a little better and was able to transfer out of the ICU, but she ended up having to come back, and then she died :/ I hope being exposed to that other lady gave my immune system some of the swine flu antibodies so I won't have to worry about it again.

Ooh, guess what?? I'm going to see The Flaming Lips in August! Jeremy got tickets. I can't wait! I already got someone to switch shifts with me that day so I won't have to worry about getting there late (it's at Meriweather Post). Speaking of switching shifts, I need to cool it with that. Whenever anyone asks me to switch with them, I always say yes, which has led me to getting some bizarre schedules. Like one weekend I worked Thursday day shift, then had to stay up all night so I could work Friday night, then Saturday night, then I had to only let myself sleep like three hours so I could go to bed at a normal time and work Monday day shift. It was very odd. I need to be more vigilant about my schedule in the future so I don't end up doing stuff like that all the time- it's very draining.

Today I must clean my apartment. It's gotten to the point where I've had to refuse to have people over because it's too embarassing. The bathroom, in particular, needs attention. I might have to make a quick run to Target for some cleaning supplies and then initiate my attack. Swiffer Wet Jets at the ready!
