I've been rocking out on my accordion since I got it on Sept. 10th. Ever since that time, I've noticed that the G bass button was kind of stiff, and tooking a little more effort to push in. I'd read that on new accordions it often just takes some time to 'break in' the bass buttons.
But last Friday, tragedy struck. After only having the squeezebox for 18 days, the G bass button stuck! Eventually it comes back out when pushing the buttons around it, but only about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way out, and the reeds kind of still make noise for G when I push in.
The store I bought it from has been very nice, and are making the arrangements for it to be returned and serviced, but that means I won't be playing my new instrument during that time. I reckon it will take a month or two.
Fortunately,
wintergypsy has kindly let me borrow her accordion yet again.
I'm already sort of regretting my decision to buy this cheap Chinese-made accordion, even if it has the Hohner name on it. Should I have held out to find a more expensive, used accordion? Planned a day trip to Minneapolis, Milwaukee, or Chicago to find one and try it in a real store? I guess I'll never know.
