Seems my 'net is back up and running. Had a guy come out here and screw around for awhile, and apparently the problem was some dinky little apparatus on the wall outside that had collected too much rainwater or something. However retarded that may be, at least the problem is (hopefully) solved now.
Got a spontaneous IM from an old friend of mine that I haven't talked to in a long time yesterday... Derek Dorman, a fellow former Air Force brat, and the only local friend I knew before I came to Ohio. We went to the same high school when our families were stationed in England. We were really close friends for a while after moving, but we sort of drifted apart, which is tragic because he's pretty cool. But, if all goes according to plan, we just might be hanging out on Friday, which could be the start of the rekindling of an old friendship. Yay!
Also, last night my cousin Lydia and her dad stopped by spontaneously. You may perhaps recall my awesome aunt Jennifer from a couple previous entries. Well, Lydia is very much her daughter, and maintains the ability to be awesome despite being fifteen, which is an age at which girls are often incredibly annoying. She is not completely without annoyance herself, but she has a remarkable capacity for grooviness. I haven't seen her in a couple years, and before that I hadn't seen her in about 3 or so years, so it was certainly a welcome visit, even if it was unexpected. I exposed her to Katamari Damacy, Paper Mario, and Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, we killed my camera's batteries with silly faces, and we watched Read or Die. All in all, an enjoyable evening. Alexis called and wanted to discuss... things, and despite offering to take the phone to a less "occupied by other people" location, she reluctantly decided to allow me the pleasure of rare famlial company. I couldn't help but feel a little guilty about that.
Alexis... Alexis... I don't think I've absorebed it all yet. I'm going to need some time before I can really compose my thoughts on this one... Nothing I can come up with tonight feels quite right.
