That was good!
That is a partnership that is going to last!

To be strictly accurate it should be "Third Chance" if you count being rescued from Cygnus as the "Second Chance", but who is counting.

Though "Spaceships live forever, not so, clever thieves!"
(Sorry "Puff the Magic Dragon")

Hee; I love that song. Avon still has a brain; it's organic and even if it has excellent nutrition and shielding, it's still subject to aging, entropy, and the various dangers of space. I'd give him up to 200 years.

Sadly, the script writers had Pinder as "looking 70" so we can't assume people have better health and longer lives than us.

Interesting question how long would a disembodied brain last.
Pinder was not the best example to use, if I recollect he was youngeer than he looked!

Ah, but the thing was, Tarrant or somebody said he was about 26 (I'm at work and can't look it up) and Vila said, you're kidding, he looks 70. The important thing is that 70 = old, wrinkled, grey. If they hadn't done that, we could assume that lifespans were much longer and Tarrant, for example, was about 40 which would match what he's supposed to have done.

I enjoyed reading that.

palm trees and cocktail glasses on the bright turquoise shirt Vila wore

I recognise that shirt from somewhere, don't I?

He would only found out later

Should that found be find?

It should, yes. I'll fix that right now.

The shirt is on this icon. :-)

LJ won't let me change to comment, so this is really entropy_housetalking.

The original pic of Vila in the palme tree & martini shirt is here.

Thanks for that link. I thought the shirt was intended to be the one in the icon, but that was the only place I'd seen it and couldn't be sure.

Excellent, I love it when post PGP Vila and Avon get back to the sort of relationship they had in season 1. They will make a very good Brain/Brawn team.

I think that's the first time I've heard Vila described as brawn! ;-)

My thoughts exactly as I was writing it, but I think of this type of story as Brain/Brawn from the Ann McCaffrey's story The ship who sang. The final Brawn in that book was a fairly Vila type person, not brave or strong but resourceful, a bit of a trickster not a thief though. He was admin. staff in the Space Patrol.

I believe the challenge was inspired by that book. I'm not fond of her writing, but I might read that. :-)
