Happenings....

RECENTLY:

I've been having my last lessons with a lot of the classes since my stay is coming to an end.  It's not really sad at this point because I'm ready to go, but it's still a strange feeling.

I haven't been doing anything special for the classes, but I have taken some pictures, so check those out.

Also, yesterday I went to the official "Going Awawy BBQ" which really puts things into perspective about leaving.  There are a lot of people who I've met over the past year who I really want to stay in contact with, even though I'm really bad at it.  There's also quite a few people who I'm just starting to become friends with now who I wish I did more with while I was here.  Oh well, friendships are what I make of them I guess, so it's all in how I keep them in the future.

After the BBQ Brian/Rie/Asuka and I went to YAB's for a drink.  It was a pretty good night except for the fact that we all wanted to shoot off fireworks, but none of us had any.  Someday soon I'll be shooting mine off, I've been collecting them for a while since it became summer-ish here.

When it rains...

At about 7am this morning I was awoken by a text from Yabu that said:

I have a アクシデント (accident).
YAB's bar is die.

To which I promptly responded:

?

He called me after that to explain that it was raining inside his bar, and his whole bar was soaked (I had thought maybe the bar burnt down or someone in his family was dead...).  Very tired, I got up and walked over.  Apparently around 2am or 3am a water pipe burst on the 2nd floor of the building he rents at, almost right above his bar.  Right in the middle of business water came pouring through the ceiling cracks and everywhere in a small area of his bar onto the customers.  He made everyone leave and shutdown his place and had been cleaning it with the help of some friends until the time he called.  His whole ceiling was soaked and all the wood panels he has there on the walls are going to have to be removed, also his AC system is completely soaked and will have to be replaced.  He said he probably won't be open for the next month and a half.

BUT! since he doesn't have to work and will be receiving money from his landlord for all the damage AND the business he is losing during his closed time, he will have free time to come and hang out with me before I leave Japan.  So he calls it a "不幸中の幸い” or fukochu no saiwai, in a time of unhappiness there is a gift, or something like that.

Here's some pictures to take your mind off that.
