I had a weird day teaching. Lots of kids were trying hard to speak English today for some reason. And I'm happy that they were, but I don't usually expect it from certain kids. One in particular was the worst kid in all of my classes last semester, but this semester for whatever reason he is trying hard, and he's actually really smart.
This kid is one of the ones who likes to poke my ass and reach for my crotch. I can't tell you why, but for whatever reason some Japanese children just can't keep their hands to themselves. And it's not just toward me either, just before class started he and his friend were trying to throw a ball at each other's junk.
Today we were doing a speaking test and when it came to his turn I asked for his student number and name. He gave me his number and then claimed his name was "Jichael Mackson" (ie. Michael Jackson). I decided to go with it since he had been clever enough to know that was funny and used it as his name in the speaking test. When I wrote down his grade he wasn't pleased and went to the teacher to complain, she said he could fix his mistake and do it again if he wanted.
A couple minutes later he came back, looked me in the eyes, and said "Revenge..."
Another student came up to my desk in the teachers room, paused for a second, and uttered "That may be the truth..." and when I asked "What is?" she ran off.
Other than those two it was just and abnormal day of English speaking kids.
