Trying to figure out Snape's chart

I am having a horrible time trying to rectify Snape's birth chart.  I am going with the birth date 1/9/60, location England (!).  I want to figure out what his rising sign is so that I know what houses his planets fall in.  All right, so Scorpio seems to be a good rising sign for him - he doesn't have any planets in Scorpio (except Neptune but that ( Read more... )

Yes, I am just changing the time of birth in the program and seeing what houses the planets land in.

I had thought of Aquarius rising too (I had a friend with Aquarius rising, and she always wore black...but I hate her now) - but there was something wrong with it - too many planets above the horizon I think it was. It seemed to me that the influences of childhood were so important that houses 1 - 6 should be emphasized.

I also thought of Virgo rising, but I have Virgo rising, and even though I have Pluto on the ascendant, I still tend to disappear (sometimes people just don't see me), which I don't think of Snape doing - although maybe it would be useful in the espionage portion of his life. I am going to have to check that out.

My program puts Venus in Sagittarius, 8deg6min.

So now it seems like I have even more to consider -- I had almost reconciled myself to the chart the way I had it - his expression of the warmth and fuzziness of Venus in the first house and all those planets in the second house was just to be repressed about it and suffering, having those characteristics, but they would be subterranean and what people would see would be the suffering (which is what we do see).

*looks at her almost all-black wardrobe*

That has to do with Aquarius rising?

Well, just because the rising sign has to do with how you look, and wearing all black all the time is kind of odd I think, like Aquarius is. What' is your rising sign?

I looked at his chart with Virgo rising, and 4 planets end up in the 4th house, including Mars and Venus, so I think Mars could be an indicator of the strife in his childhood home life, and Venus could be about Lily.

Aquarius! That's why I mentioned my fashion choices. So I'm "kind of odd", eh? ;)

(I don't actually wear *all* black *all* the time, just mostly. Why, today I happen to be wearing a dark grey turtleneck.)

Where were you born? Somewhere I read that it is harder to get an Aquarius rising because Aquarius spends less time on the horizon, but I can't remember if it is just in North America or what.

That is interesting, you do like to wear black mostly?

I have the Aquarius moon, so I know all about being odd!

If Snape has an Aquarius rising, then Leo would rule the 7th house, which would put Uranus there, which I would take to represent Lily since she is an Aquarius and Uranus rules Aquarius. Now I have to go manipulate his chart again; currently I have it at Virgo rising!

Approximately 37N24 122W04, 19:35 (PDT). (basically north-central coast of California)

I don't think we ought to lay too much significance on Severus' wardrobe -- it was just a "look at this guy, he's an evil red herring" plot device, after all.
