Even enraged there's some teeny, tiny part of him that won't let him kill Daniel, right? Maybe? That knows that crockery against the wall instead of his skull will make him shut up and go away?
Though, you are probably right. Jack wouldn't *really* kill Daniel, especially once he was the father of his child. But think of how he could use a knife as a weapon of terror.
