This is a lovely story. It reminds me of Memento in a way. Seems to me that Danny isn't having a problem MAKING new memories as the key character in the movie did, but instead REMEMBERING the new memories he made until something triggers it. And the whole mystery and intrigue you've created, wow. Reminds me a bit of Kikki's Stardust (which I need to reread *g*).
I love the way Daniel is trying to come to terms with his relationship with Jack and how Jack is still trying to do the right thing and fend him off. Awww. I also love your Sam. I like that she's a co-conspirator. Though are they really retired? Cuz there's hints of it, but if so, they wouldn't still be able to be at the mountain much, no?
I love Daniel's reaction to his deciphering the govt papers too. *snerk* Gets all suspicious and paranoid! Hee.
Something huge is DEFINITELY brewing. Cannot wait to see what happens. And I love the way Danny has to keep triggering his memories. Very true to his character with his journals and his languages, etc. You're always so good at nailing these characters. So hurry up with the next part. *poke poke poke*

There will be at least two more chapters of this, they are just slow going, as I have them prioritized below everything, basically. The next chapter will be a huge smutfest. The one after that should advance the plot.
They are really retired. And they aren't at the mountain anymore. Sam is gonna use connections to reach Hammond.
