This is an interesting take on young love and lose. This is styled for a folk song. It's kind of hard to simplify this one with eliminating words and what not. I know I used a lot of him/her/she/he but shhhhh
makes it work. :-p
She can't hold back her tears
holding him close
he's leaving
to the grounds again
dressed the same way he had before
Watching his eyes
He's right here, but so far away
How much she wants him to stay
There is no other choice
No voice
No way out
Leave all of this behind
All he can do is hold her as she cries out in despair
comforting her with his words
telling her
"time will go by so fast. I will be back again"
He'll come back down the road
right back to where he belongs
Turning away
giving her one last glance
the dust fills the air and he was gone again
Waiting everyday
for his word to come
for his letter to arrive
a shining moment
a shattered tear
Each line, Each fear
Wishing he was here
Here with her
The tears came so fast
staining like the ink on the page
In his distress
In his ruin
saying it would be long before they would see each other
There was nothing that could be done
They could only wait
Time slowly eased by
seasons passed and not a word
watching the world as it died around her
Fading into the void she had become
as each day went by
the ground had become still underneath a blanket of white
From the window
another day had arrived
His words came in so clearly
As though he were there
Grasping every line he wrote
An apology for the time elapsed
Each day
in this wasteland
Each thought
He longed to return
It would be time again before his next word
He could never express what she meant to him
She faded back into the memories
Imagining the day
Walking back from that dust-filled road
Back to where he belongs
Letters came
Seasons cycled
Holding onto every word he wrote
As though he was right here in front of her
She'd felt so lonely inside
Colors died
becoming various shades of black and gray
waiting at her place
for her soldier
every night and day
CHORUS (LMFAO I forgot this was supposed to be a song)
------All she can do is wait
wait for him
Each moment
Making her slowly fade
Longing for that day
He'd walk up the road again
As the dust cleared
standing right in front of her-
and that day had come
where her hope had returned
she could only anticipate
the day she got twenty-eight letters from her love
So much to grasp at once
He was longing to return to her
It would be the only day
he would smile again
The only love he had ever known
Each of the words she read didn't have a breath to 'em
So many.....
Said he was coming home soon
He wanted to see her standing there
At the end
---CHROUS #2
All she could do was wait for him
Knowing their love would never die
That day standing
as the dust clears
That day was coming
No more waiting
He was coming home.....------
Putting on the best
That day had come
So many days
Through all the gray
The only love she'd known
was back again
Every moment
spent together
played in the back of her mind
The time finally arrived
At the road that took him away
was bringing him back home
From afar
They were here
he was home....
The dust was now her view
One-by-one they appeared
Running to their distraught
Their love
As the last one emerged
He wasn't there
Through the air
came a list of names
Screams followed
All that were lost
Half-way through
dying on the inside
His name was read
Eyes shut screaming again and again
In disbelief
She had waited for so long
To see that glance in his eyes
Each letter that said he was coming home
when that dust cleared
and he wasn't standing back where
he had disappeared
In the middle of everything
ghost letters in hand
down on her knees
The only love she had ever known
was never coming home again.....
