And it continues

Things have just been weird lately. I got a call Sunday night from Michelle who told me that Dr. Carpenter had a family emergency, which meant that we were going to be without a doctor on Monday. She had just called me to tell me not to come in on Monday since I was only scheduled for 3 hours anyway. On Monday morning I got another call from Michelle. As I said previously,we had lots of snow. As a result of that snow, Cheryl couldn't get her car out of the driveway and I needed to come in. So no doctor and a snow day.

Yet things were surprisingly crazy. When I got there, I had to finish taking out all the boarders. We had eleven at the time. And of course, we don't have eleven runs. I took them out and cleaned their cages. Most of them were leaving that day, and many of them needed baths. So I started on the baths since we weren't exactly seeing appointments. The pain in the ass was the nail trims. It was just me, Michelle, and Maia, so there was no one with any real experience to do restraint. Michelle actually held a dog covered in its own feces. On our last nail trim, the dog wheeled around to snap and instead got the nail clippers. The clippers got caught on his nose and left a small cut in his nostril. He began bleeding profusely. This happend after his bath and while his owner was waiting for him.

I kept pressure on on the cut with a paper towel, and Michelle called several hospitals, but many had doctors on vacation. She finally go ahold of Dr. Fink's ex-wife (ha!), who finally suggested we put Kwik-Stop in it after suggesting several products we did not have.

On Tuesday, we had a relief doctor. It was a lady by the name of Dr. Dragon, which has to be the kickassinist last name ever (short of being named Dr. Kickass, that is). I thought she has an accent, but I couldn't quite peg it. I didn't really think it was, but I was hoping for Irish. I asked her, and she's from Massachusetts. I have to say I was a little disappointed.

So we have our relief vet. What would it be a good time to do? Inventory! Well okay, that was planned in advance, but it's aggravating to try and count shit when you're helping the relief vet. Since we had no keys to get to the controlled drugs, Dr. Carpenter came up to the hospital to give them to us. And while she came up there, she thought she'd give us another surprise.

Dr. Carpenter quit. It was coming anyway, but she had told Michelle and Dr. Fink she'd wait till he got back from Africa to do it. She wouldn't tell Healthy Pet about her family situation and they pissed her off, so she quit. Now we're without a doctor until January 13th.

Michelle found a relief vet until Dr. Fink gets back, though. She's worked at ABVH before. It's Dr. Wright! That loon who sedated and shaved the wrong cat, and never stops talking. Hooray! Where is Dr. Dragon? :-\

That's all very exciting. I'm off today, so I'm gonna go see Blade: Trinity today.
