Mission Statement

Jul 09, 2007 21:00

I have a lot more on my plate than I did when I finally managed to finish the first draft of my NaNoWriMo story, So Much For True Love, but as promised, I do intend to complete the second draft by the end of summer. I have reviewed my story, in hard copy form, having printed out all 171 pages on July 2, 2007, and after writing copious notes to go with those I had written as I was working on the story itself, I am now ready to get started.

The first order of business is creating the "Prologue", in which Mr. Blacklodge will be acting as a quasi-Greek Chorus. Then Chapters One and Two, which shouldn't deviate much from what was written. The first chapter will be I and II from the original draft, fused together; The second chapter will be III, which is already plenty long enough as it is. After that point, there will be some major deviation from the original narrative. My preliminary estimate for the length of the second draft of SMFTL is 150,000 words - more than double the 65,000 currently written.

For those of you wondering where my story is, I have friends-locked all entries containing story text and spoilers. You will have to either log in, or add me, to be able to read my handiwork. If you have been reading, but have not yet finished, you may want to do so... Not to mention provide some constructive criticism that, at this nebulous - even amorphous - stage, could have a profound impact on the direction of the final story. Some input would be greatly appreciated, and will be paid back in spades, should any of my readers ever endeavour on a creative writing project. Hopefully, that should be more than enough reasons to read and review! (hint, hint) :D

(Since my story is now beyond NaNoWriMo, I won't be using the NaNo tag anymore... at least, not until next November!)
