THE GOOD: Dir en grey will be playing this Friday at the SXSW (South by Southwest) music conference in Austin this weekend. It's basically a humongous showcase of indie and unkown bands playing all around the Austin area. And Austin is only about a five hour drive from where I live.
THE BAD: You can only attend the SXSW conference and its concerts if you're inside the music industry. Ticket prices are ungodly high. Thusly, even though they're so close, I won't be able to see them in concert. The only other shows they're doing in the States are in L.A. and NYC. Oh well, I don't like Diru's live performances much anyway. It just would be a great experience to see them in person.
THE UGLY: I recently learned that Tarja, the vocalist of Nightwish, was fired back in October '05, right after they finished the final show of their tour. This came as a huge shock to me when I found out. I've only been a fan of theirs for a few years, but I can't imagine Nightwish without Tarja's voice. The band says they plan to find a new vocalist and continue making records, but I dunno...it just won't be the same.
