well, today is sucking a little bit, but i got a lot of sleep so it's not as bad as usual...
1) i was hoping to go home during this four-day memorial weekend because i haven't seen my wife since the marriage (and My birthday is on the 29th). However, plane tickets were far too high for me to purchase right now and i've not had access to my banking account for almost a month (i just got my debit card yesterday)...
2) My company has been throwing us into testing for the EIB (Expert Infantry Badge) and had the road march portion of the tests on Wednesday. The march is 12 miles in under 3 hours (which is pretty insane when you're also rucking with 35 pounds and an M16A4 rifle in full battle rattle) so now my foot is totally fucked (oh, and i only made it to mile 7 before i couldn't go anymore, but i don't care because it was still farther than most of the Company). Really, i could give less of a shit about the EIB, i just want to move Katie over here and recuperate before leaving for Iraq...
3) Gunnery was earlier this month. It's a field excercise in which the Bradley Crews are tested on their abilities in the Brads (mine is an M2A3, like that really means anything to anyone else). The grading system is based on 10 engagements in which the crew gets either a:
U -- Failure to pass engagemt due to incompletion of primary tasks (i.e. missing a target or firing at the wrong target)...
P -- Passing engagement with degraded standards due to incompletion of sub-tasks (i.e. improper ammo selection or fire commands)... or a...
T -- Passing engagement in full accordance with primary tasks and sub-tasks (i.e. i'm a badass mothafucka with a huge cannon, booya)...
... and well i scored 9 T's and 1 P giving my crew a "Distinguished" grade, which means i'll be getting my second AAR here in a little while, which is always nice...
4) i was promoted to PFC, which is always a plus, can't wait for my specialist rank...
5) i found an awesome apartment for Katie and i! I'ts a townhouse in Copperas Cove, so it's a little more expensive, but i love it so much! We won't be able to move in for about another month but it'll happen (so help me Splunge!). It's 2 stories with 2 bedrooms and 1 1/2 bathrooms, and the complex has a pool (yay!)...
6) i'm sure there is a whole lot more to write, but it's really hard to regurgitate it out of this weary brain of mine. Until then, don't roll in nettles...
p.s. -- I LOVE KATIE! w00t!...
