Divisional Round: New England Patriots 41, Houston Texans 28 (1-0) (13-4) (Sunday, January 13, 2013)

Wow, this weekend’s games in the Divisional Round were waaaay better than last week’s dud Wild Card Weekend games. Double OT and the exit of Pouting Peytie? The rookie San Fran QB dazzling? Atlanta finally winning its first playoff game under Matt Ryan? The Patriots taking care of business? Oh, yeah! ;)

BTW, I knew that Manning was in trouble when I saw him wearing two gloves. It was bitterly cold in Denver and he's never won a game when the temperature is below 40 degrees. Go, cold! ;)

Much fangirl squeeing, including about Tommy's clothes in his post-game presser. ;)

While the score was similar to the last game’s 42-14 drubbing of the Texans five weeks ago, the game was a lot closer this time around. The Patriots and Texans were in a dogfight for the first half and then the Pats began to pull away in the second half. There were a few breakdowns in the fourth quarter but Rob Ninkovich had grabbed an INT in the third quarter and the offense continued to roll. Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley both sparkled in their running back roles, and Shane also was used as a wide-out. With the loss of Gronk and Danny Woodhead, guys had to step up. Gronk’s lost for the rest of the year as he re-broke his arm and needs a second surgery, and Danny has a thumb injury. No idea if he’ll be back next week.

The boys are one game away from the Super Bowl! The Ravens will be tough customers but the games all get harder the deeper you go into the playoffs.

In Tom’s postgame presser, he was wearing a dark-green turtleneck sweater with a black jacket. His hair was very stylish. I like guys in long hair, but when he had it long it was too greasy-looking and wasn’t styled attractively. This shorter cut is a good look for him.

He and the boys will be ready next week for the AFC Championship Game! The road to the Super Bowl does go through Foxboro after all! ;)
