WEDDING WHIRLWIND!!! ;)
“Pretty Bird, what’s all the fuss?”
Dinah glared at her fiancé. “We’re getting married in six weeks, you goof!”
“Yeah, I know, I read the date on the invitations,” Ollie drawled. He ducked as a throw pillow was tossed his way. “Hey, sweetheart, what’s all the fuss?”
“You big lug! I still have planning up the wazoo to do!”
“Can I help?”
“Will you be serious about all this?”
“Of course.”
Looking at him with suspicion, Dinah sat down on the living room couch. The coffee table was covered with papers and color swatches and catalogs.
“What is all this stuff?” Ollie asked as he sat down next to her. “I thought all the major decisions had been made.”
“They have. Now it’s time for minor decisions.”
“Oh.” Ollie was clearly flummoxed by all this ‘wedding stuff’. “Honey, don’t you have a wedding planner to help you with all of this?”
“Don’t you want to help?”
“Of course I do. I just don’t want you to get stressed out.”
“Melody and Roy are helping but this is your wedding, too, you know. Start looking at those swatches.”
“For what?”
Dinah rolled her eyes. “For a good match for the bridesmaids’ dresses. They’re peach-colored, so we have to decide on the table flowers.”
“No peach-colored flowers?” Ollie grinned.
Dinah punched his arm. “No! Now, the dresses are peach, but with shadings of scarlet, as befits a fall wedding.”
“Well, what are the bridesmaids carrying for flowers?”
“Hmm?” Dinah was looking for swatches at the bottom of one of the piles.
“Why not just use the colors of the flowers for the table flowers?”
Dinah looked at him for a moment. “You know, every once in awhile, you can be brilliant.”
Ollie laughed. “Thanks, I think.” He put an arm around his fiancee’s shoulders. “Try and relax, Pretty Bird. This wedding will be fine.”
“It’s a High Society wedding. Your family is a very big deal.”
“So’s yours.”
“Please, my father was a cop and Mom was a florist. I consider them important, but your High Society buddies don’t.”
“Screw ‘em.” Ollie nuzzled her cheek. “Relax with me now, and get out your aggressions tonight.”
“In the bedroom?” Dinah smirked.
He laughed. “If you like, but I was thinking more about patrol.”
Dinah laughed, too. “Deal, Archer.”
Ollie smirked. “Okay, what else?”
Dinah smiled and leaned over and kissed him. When she pulled back, her blue eyes were sparkling.
Ollie considered himself one smart guy.

Roy shook his head. “They’re all lovey-dovey again.”
Melody smirked. They were standing at the entrance to the living room, but went unnoticed. ”I wonder if we should go in?” she asked.
”Nah, let’s wait a few minutes. Give ‘em some mushy time.”
They went to the library and Roy logged into his e-mail.
“You wanna get all mushy with Dick,” Melody said with a knowing smirk.
Roy answered with a smirk of his own. “You think you’re really smart, dontcha, kid?” He tapped the keys.
“’Course I am.” She looked over his shoulder. “When’s your wedding going to be?”
“Slaves can’t get married.”
“Not legally, but slaves can have commitment ceremonies.”
“What makes you think that Dick and I would get hitched, ceremony or wedding?”
“I’ve seen the way you guys make goo-goo eyes at each other.”
Roy gently shoved her and she laughed. “No reading over my shoulder.”
Melody grinned and danced away.
Roy typed his message to Dick, wondering if Melody was right. Would there be a commitment ceremony, or even better, a wedding in his and Dick’s future?
He liked the idea but he knew enough about life that things changed. And it was tricky for slaves to come together when they lived far apart. If their Masters agreed to the union, they would have to decide who was sent where, and there was the matter of their superhero identities. Well, maybe someday they could have a team of their own, especially if Freedom came.
Roy concentrated on his message, just a quick hello and a short recitation of the wedding craziness around the Castle.

Hi, Dick!
Dinah is cracking the whip! She’s got Ollie jumping through hoops, ha, ha. We know who’s the boss around here!
How’s it going at the Manor? Consider yourself lucky that you’re out of the wedding madness!
Roy

He finished up with a few more pleasantries and hit ‘Send’ as he sat back in his chair. Melody was looking at the books, trying to choose one to read later.
“You want the computer now?”
“Nah, I’m going to go see if Mistress Dinah needs any help>
Roy grinned. “I’ll come with you…wait, I got a reply!” The chime of the computer was soft, and Roy opened the message.

Hi, Roy!
I sympathize about the wedding craziness. I can just imagine! It would be the same here. The gossip columnists and paparazzi would be all over this.
Things are a little crazy around here even without a wedding. I can’t say anything more, but don’t be surprised it Ollie gets a call from Bruce soon.
Hope all is well with you, Melody, Dinah and Ollie. And all the staff, too! I hope we can get together soon.
Dick

Roy smiled. It was typical of Dick to send well wishes for everyone. He quickly tapped out a reply.
& & & & & &
Yeah, consider yourself very lucky! Dinah has been transformed into a Dragon Lady, ha!
I’ll keep my ears open for that call.
Everyone’s well here. Hope it’s the same for you.
Well, I have to go and help out with the madness. I’ll check my mail later. See ya!
Roy

Roy logged out and followed Melody to the living room. They were both happy to see Dinah and Ollie smiling and laughing.
“Picked out the colors?” Roy smirked.
“Watch it, L’il Archer,” Ollie warned as everyone laughed.
Roy and Melody settled comfortably on the floor by the coffee table. Melody asked, “How can we help, Mistress?”
“I want you to find a good table favor. I can search on-line, but as long as we have the catalogs here, let’s look through them.”
Melody and Roy began to flip through the books, a comfortable silence settling over the room.
Roy didn’t mind the task. He secretly enjoyed the wedding chaos while putting up a typically male attitude. Ollie put up a fuss but really didn’t mind, either.
Melody was in seventh heaven. She and Dinah giggled and fussed and enjoyed their girly sides with the planning.
Roy admitted to himself that since Melody had mentioned marriage for him and Dick, he had been thinking about it. While helping out, he liked to pick up tips for his own future wedding.
If Dick and I were free, we could have a wedding with all the trappings, and even if it’s a commitment ceremony instead, we’ll still do it up right.
Satisfied, Roy diligently searched through the catalogs. He smiled as he came upon a page. “What about this?” He turned the book around on the coffee table and pointed.
“Miniature teapots?” Dinah was intrigued. “They’re unusual.”
“And so adorable!” Melody cooed. Roy rolled his eyes but she laughed.
”I approve,” said Ollie. “Good work, Speedy.”
Roy grinned.
Ollie’s cellphone range. "Oliver Queen here. Oh, Hi, Bruce.”
Roy’s ears perked up. As he flipped through more catalogs, he listened carefully.
“Oh, damn.” Melody and Dinah looked at Ollie in concern. “Yeah, of course I’ll get on it. I have some different contacts than you do. Okay, I’ll let you know if I turn anything up.” When he hung up, three pairs of eyes were on him. “Bruce said that Dina got in touch with him. Steve Trevor went on an inspection tour of the Outer Rim. He’s disappeared.”
“Oh, no,” Dinah said, biting her lip. “I’m going to give her a call.”
“You do that. I’m going to see if any of my Gov contacts can tell me anything.”
Roy and Melody looked at each other. This was not good news.
