Thanks, sweetie! I'm afraid Dick is a little shell-shocked, the dear.

I think it says a lot about Bruce that he considers paddling a "pleasure slave thing", instead of a disciplinary tool, lol. News to me ( ... )

I figured with all the sexual connotations of paddling Bruce would feel more comfortable NOT using it on Dick. :)

I find Dick's pragmatic, accepting attitude of Pop's plans for him a sign of his maturity and understanding. He didn't necessarily welcome it, but he understood the reasons and knew it could be a lot worse. Notice that Pop didn't just spring it on him out of the blue, but explained it all years in advance, so he had to time deal with it. ~looks at Bruce

Yeah, Bruce still needs to learn, too! And Pop wanted Dick to know so that he could mentally prepare, though even if Pop didn't tell him, I think our bright Bird would have figured it out.

I do find it interesting that everyone focuses on the men who eye Dick. They need to be careful to guard against predatory women, too...there are some, and some of them like their victims young, as well. It's a ( ... )

Could you explain the whole concept of the Veiling? How much do the glasses actuallt cover? Great chapter!

Veiling ranges from full Veil (swathed in robes that cover EVERYTHING) to various stages down to the most minimal Veiling: dark glasses. It's almost not-a-Veiling but does cover the eyes and is often used with hoods or hats that shade the face. Bruce's use of the minimal stage is more symbolic than anything, but does cover Clark's beautiful eyes. :)

Poor baby bird. It's one thing to understand something in yer head but something else when yer nose is rubbed into cold, hard reality... and there's something to be said for starting a little young and getting the right message out there to the pervs and scumbags. Perhaps there could be a bit of a ceremony? A formal thing between Master and Squire with presents and a special meal, maybe a few friends over? Easier to submit to the inevitable if there's love and understanding and a few treats to sweeten things.

Very true! Bruce was pretty conflicted by his decision but he felt that it was time.

That's an interesting thought! It sounds like something this culture might do, if only with an indulgent Master. :)
